5 EWHA Womans University Dormitory registration - After completing the program registration and the tuition payment, apply for the dormitory by [kfl@ewha.ac.kr]. The room assignment results will be announced a month ahead of the semester begins.[assigned in the order of arrival] *Refer to the dormitory web site for more information on facilities.[dmtrygr.ewha.ac.kr] Visa - A short-term visa of a minimum of 30days is needed. However, students from some countries with national agreements with Korea are exempt from visa requirement. *ELC do not offer the required documents for visa application. However, the receipts for admission and tuition fees can be issued upon request. For those of you who have come to Korea without buying an insurance, our office can suggest insurance companies when you come to Korea. 10 SEOUL National University Application On-line Application; Students should apply on-line after signing up for the website. All the original documents should be scanned and attached during on-line application. Admission Procedure Candidates will be selected only after the required documents have been assessed. Applications received after the deadline will be considered only if vacancies remain and there is sufficient time for visa processing. Applicants will be individually notified of the screening results one week after the application deadline. Successful applicants are required to pay the tuition fee by the payment deadline upon receiving the notification of acceptance. Applicants who require a letter of admission should contact the KLEC office in advance. Students must take a placement test to complete the admission procedure. Students with no prior knowledge of Korean will be automatically placed in level 1. 10

11 SEOUL National University Tuition Payment - The tuition must be paid by the deadline upon receiving the notification of acceptance. Tuition fees for each program are as follows: 3-Week Intensive Korean Language Program Tuition (for 1 session) KRW 730,000 The amount of tuition is subject to change every semester. In case of a tuition increase, students must make additional payment even upon making tuition payment. - Students may select one of the following payment methods for tuition payment. Tuition account and dormitory account are different. -A course may be cancelled when its registration capacity has not been reached. Refunds Withdrawals and refunds are possible only before or during the first week of classes. They will not be possible afterwards. Please visit the LEI homepage( apply for a refund. To receive a refund, you must submit a copy of your bankbook to the KLEC office. Refund amount varies according to the refund policy. 13 SEOUL National University Deferrals If a student who has already registered cannot attend classes during that session for personal reasons, a deferral may be permitted and granted only once. Also a deferral permitted only the upcoming session. (applications for deferrals must be made by Friday of the first week.) Please visit the LEI homepage( to apply for deferrals. Please notify the KLEC office by phone or after you have made a deferral( ,8570/klp@snu.ac.kr). If a student cannot attend classes during the session they deferred to, no refunds will be made. 13

14 SEOUL National University Housing As for information of the location of, fees for, and entrance to each housing facility, inquiries must be made directly to the facility in question. Reservations must be made after the homepage of the housing facility in question has been viewed and inquiries have been made by phone. 1. 18 YONSEI University PLEASE NOTE - Students can not switch the program to another program after program starts. - Banks often discount the amount of money wired to our office in order to collect banking fees; hence the amount of money our office receives may be insufficient to cover fees. Any pertaining unpaid charges are the student s responsibility. Certificate of Completion, Credits - Class attendance is mandatory and critical in language programs. Students are required to attend at least 54 hours of the total 60 class hours in order to receive credit from the program. Students who miss more than 6 hours will fail the program and therefore not receive a grade. - Students in the program may receive university-level academic credits for successful completion of all work and requirements. Upon request, KLI will send an official transcript or certificate to the registrar s office of the school designated by the student. The transfer of credits and the number of credits accepted are to be determined by the student s university. 18

25 KOREA University Postponement, Cancellation, and Refunds Note - Applicants without a visa can receive a full refund with the submission of an application for cancellation. - If students fail to obtain a visa and cannot attend school, they must apply for cancellation at least a week prior to the starting date for a full refund. Postponement Cancellation Refund - If a student is unable to participate in our program for personal reasons after completing the enrollment procedure, his/her enrollment can be postponed once if the reason for postponement is submitted a week prior to the program starting date. - If the student does not attend school in the designated semester, his/her enrollment will be canceled and tuition fees will not be returned. 33 SOGANG University Refund Policy Application, field trip and dormitory fees are non-refundable. Tuition fees are refundable. All refund requests must be made in writing. Refunds take 2~3 weeks. In the case of all refunds, any postage and bank transaction charges will be deducted from the refund amount. Tuition Refund To receive a refund, the student must submit a copy of his/her bankbook (Korean account) in his/her name. The refund will be deposited into the account. -If the student withdraws before the first day of the program, 90% of the tuition fee will be refunded. -If the student withdraws within the first week of term, 50% of the tuition fee will be refunded. -If the student withdraws after the first week of the term or does not come to class for the first week, the student's admission will be cancelled without any refund. -In cases of family bereavement or accident/disease, residual tuition fees can be refunded (a medical certificate is required). 33
