3 About Yale-New Haven Hospital As one of the nation s oldest and best hospitals, Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNHH) provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary, family-focused care in more than 100 medical specialty areas. Each year, the Hospital sees more than 807,000 outpatient encounters and almost 60,000 inpatient discharges. As the primary teaching hospital for the Yale School of Medicine, YNHH boasts a number of medical firsts including the first artificial heart pump, the first newborn intensive care unit, the first cardiovascular center, and Connecticut s first comprehensive children s hospital. Yale-New Haven Hospital is the second largest employer in the New Haven area with more than 11,500 employees and has received numerous accolades including Magnet hospital designation. YNHH is also the flagship member of Yale New Haven Health System. ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE The 1,541-bed Yale-New Haven Hospital includes Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven, Yale-New Haven Children s Hospital and Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital. In addition, YNHH includes ambulatory satellites such as its Shoreline Medical Center, North Haven Medical Center and Old Saybrook Medical Center. Yale-New Haven Hospital s Senior Operations Group is led by its President and includes the Hospital s senior leadership team.

4 ADMINISTRATIVE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM The one-year Administrative Fellowship at Yale-New Haven Hospital provides an opportunity for Administrative Fellows to work directly with members of the senior leadership team to achieve operational objectives and prepare for leadership positions in academic medical centers. The Administrative Fellow is a contributing member of the administrative team and reports to the President of Yale-New Haven Hospital. The Fellow also interacts with and supports members of the Senior Management team. Project assignments are made based on hospital initiatives underway during the Administrative Fellow s tenure, with an attempt to meet the specific interests and needs of the Administrative Fellow. Key areas of focus have included: Operational effectiveness Service excellence Performance improvement Regulatory readiness Ambulatory services Employee engagement Business planning Past Yale-New Haven Hospital Administrative Fellows have moved on to key healthcare positions, including: CEO, Yale-New Haven Hospital and President & CEO, Yale New Haven Health System Vice President, Administration, Yale-New Haven Hospital Vice President, Strategy & Business Planning, Yale New Haven Health System Director, Physician Services, Yale-New Haven Hospital Associate Director, Business Development, Yale New Haven Health System Manager, Hospitalist Services, Yale-New Haven Hospital

The Administrative Fellow is a contributing member of the administrative team and reports to the President of Yale-New Haven Hospital.

6 APPLICATION PROCESS The one-year YNHH Administrative Fellowship begins in July. To apply, completed applications must be received by the first Monday in October of the prior year.
