2 photo: Hisao Suzuki photo: Bojan Salaj Central Part of the National Gallery Presernova ulica 24 What was involved in this project was the linkage of two existing National Gallery buildings, and the development of a place for the monumental Robba fountain, as well as an independent place for the museum's public events (openings, meetings) The project eliminates the indeterminate distance between the two buildings, deemed to be absurd and irrational It represents an independent solution that works even if this distance were different Inspired by Issey Miyake's "folded tubes", the building's structure consists of an alignment of parallel porticoes with varying geometry These porticoes have many different functions They support the roof and the curtain facade, as well as the various networks and systems: electricity, lighting, ventilation, heating The completely glazed extension comes across like see-through interface between park and city Set in the Presernova Street axis, it affords a monumental entrance to the museum photo: Hisao Suzuki m² Architect Sadar Vuga Arhitekti Ministry of Culture of the Republic of SADARVUGA Tuesday-Sunday: Monday, Holidays: Closed 2

3 Trnovo Pier Trnovski pristan 10 In the early 1930's Joze Plecnik made first plans for new design of Trnovo pier embankment Poetic gesture of long, curved stone steps towards the river and avenue of weepings with a path behind them was realised in following years In the year 2007 it was decided that renovation of this area should be the first step in the rediscovery of the river Ljubljanica ambient It has been developed in two direction Clearing out original design and upgrading it with new urban furnishing Benches, formed as wooden plateaus floating on top of stone cascades emphasise the relation with the river and minimaze the visual impact on the entity Additional dispersed wooden pavement laid in the green areas follows the paths, enabling grass growth throughout the year After the renovation the old and the new coexist in a way that design principles show the obvious difference between the two interventiones thus at the same time they function as one entity The area became known as Ljubljana "beach" m² Landscape architect Municipality of Ljubljana, Ljubljana Tourism triiije walk, bycicle, car 3

4 The City Museum Gosposka 15 The project is renovation and extension of the Auersperg Palace, which is located in the heart of the protected historical city centre The palace and the plot have a very rich history dating from prehistoric areas, to roman and medieval times Each era added something to the building Through the history the purpose of the palace changed several times so the existing organisation of the plan was not suitable to host museum programme The spaces were labyrinth-ic and disconnected The competition entry proposed a spiral walk of the visitor through the exhibition spaces and proposed addition was connecting element between wings of the palace m² Architect Ofis The city museum ljubljana AurelieSabatier Open: Tuesday-Sunday 10:00-18:00 Guided tours at 11:00, 14:00 (in English), 17:00 Organised tours of the palace are at 11:00 and 17:00 The Museum is closed on December 25th and 26th and January 1st 4

5 Lolita Cafe Cankarjevo nabrezje 1 Occupying the former warehouse in the central historic palace in Ljubljana, Lolita gives a tribute to a tradition of cafes Huge historic windows of the space enable constant day and night communication with the pedestrian zone by the river and fill the interior with enormous amounts of light And it is the light that illuminates the partnership of spatolato and roughly painted brick wall (showing the historic entrance to the house), gives power to cafe icon Thonet No 214 (and witty 214K) dancing around Nika Zupanc sofas and follows numerous textiles jumping from the wall to the swing bench and back to the wall panels The height of more than five meters is characterised by two opposing planes Parquet floor painted and set in carpet like pattern and the ceiling with a huge unique image that characterises the space the most From allegora of Venera and Apolon to historic napkin»kotiljon«with designer's self portrait (!) and a detail of Gustav Dore»Creation of Eve« m² Interior architect Lighting designer Strle svetila BID doo, Kaval Group triiije Mon - Thu: 9:00 am - 10:00 pm Fri - Sat: 9:00 am - 11:00 pm Sun: 9:00 am - 9:00 pm walk, bycicle, kavalir (electric public transport) 5
