2 RAILWAY APPLICATION PLC To perform control and diagnostic functions, FAR Systems produces the RaPLC family of general purpose programmable controllers. The RaPLC family is designed to comply with railway requirements. It is versatile enough to be suitable for different diagnostic and control tasks relating to the on-board functions. Diagnostic data from on-board equipment is acquired directly via distributed I/Os and indirectly via connection between the RaPLC and the other on-board controllers. Saving data, presentation and transmission is performed via HMIs and train-to-ground communication devices integrated into the train network. To allow car builders to develop their own software applications, FAR Systems has created PRISMA - IDE, a development tool for standard software compliant with IEC SHORT DESCRIPTION The RaPLC family is a group of Railway PLC devices developed for processing and transferring data between several vehicle buses (MVB, CAN, and Serial) ensuring a flexible and reliable communication with on-board automation logics. They are also designed to be interfaced with field signals necessary in many on-board applications. 3 All devices of RaPLC family offer the following features and benefits: Compliant to EN50155 standard for electronics in railway rolling stock The system is very versatile thanks to the simultaneous presence of different typologies of interfaces (viz. MVB, CAN, RS485/RS422 & Ethernet) Easy integration with other major on-board systems Multiple power inputs (24V DC, 37.5V DC, 72V DC & 110V DC) allowing application in locomotives supplied with different battery voltage Easily programmable with FAR Systems PRISMA IDE, a powerful IEC software tool. The Soft PLC can configure all RaPLC resources like digital and analog I/Os, MVB bus, CAN bus and serial interfaces according to Modbus and ISO3309 protocols Ethernet interface 10/100 Base-T, which permits - Fast transmission of data - Downloading application program - Interfacing with fast communication systems - Interfacing with a PC using a web browser for configuration of main network parameters like IP address Upgradable to allow the acquisition of several digital and analog signals from sensors, odometers and other signals (in case of extended I/O version devices) Every component of the RaPLC family has specific characteristics to meet different needs of customers: RaPLC MINI as gateway between IEC61375 standard MVB bus and Ethernet and CAN buses for integrating new logic communication functions on rail vehicles RaPLC MICRO as a compact size version solution developed for processing and transferring data only between the MVB and a serial bus if other interfaces are not required RaPLC PLUS as gateway between MVB and Ethernet or other serial bus with improved speed performance RaPLC RIO, RAPLC RIOM, RAPLC RIOPWM as extended I/O interface devices providing remote interfaces to Train Logic Unit, HMI, diagnostic and vehicle logic management systems RAPLC GPU as general Purpose unit with MVB and I/O interfaces where good flexibility in customization of the I/Os and software application more important than speed

The PRISMA T5 is the runtime embedded software, which manages the application program and is made available to the products of the RaPLC family by FAR Systems. The Soft PLC can configure all RaPLC resources like digital and analog I/Os, MVB bus, CAN bus and serial interfaces according to Modbus and ISO3309 protocols. Other protocols can be easily developed on demand. RaPLC software can configure the PLC as stand alone, master or slave. From the standpoint of the MVB protocol, the RaPLC can be seen as a MVB Class 1 with Bus Administrator capability, upgradeable up to Class 4 on demand. MIO300 - DIAGNOSTIC BOARD FOR POWER STATIC CONVERTER A diagnostic board which acquires and measures digital and analog signals, exchanges data on MVB bus and acts as static converter supervisor.
