1 Please Support Tucker High School s FIRST Robotics Team Sparky 384 The J.R. Tucker High School FIRST Robotics team, Sparky FIRST team 384, is seeking supporters, sponsors, and tax-deductible donations. Sparky 384 participates in the international FIRST Robotics Competition. The vision of this competition, as expressed by founder Dean Kamen, is To transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology heroes. FIRST was created to inspire and motivate students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math, while fostering well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership. Each year, teams from around the world participate in FIRST, build a robot in six weeks, and compete in a high-energy sports-like atmosphere. Students work year-round with professional mentors from fields including engineers, scientists, accountants, marketing professionals, and graphic designers. These mentors inspire the students and cultivate 21 st century skills. The experience that students receive through this program is rewarding and shows the true excitement of science and technology. Over the past thirteen years, Sparky 384 s impact on their school and community has sparkled, resulting in the recent doubling of team members. With this growth, our team is able to increase our STEM outreach efforts for elementary and middle school students and surrounding community. Sparky 384 s budget is raised through student fundraisers, corporate sponsorships, and family donations. Attached is a fact sheet about FIRST as well as Sparky FIRST team 384, a copy of our budget, and the levels of sponsorship. Please feel free to contact us at 384sparky@gmail.com with any questions or to set up a visit from our team members. To read additional information about FIRST and Sparky go to and Thank you for your valuable time and for your support!!
