Full Source Removal for Easy Maintenance The ExtractaBrite source incorporates a source cartridge that contains the repeller, lens stack, and RF lens, all of which can be removed from the instrument while still under vacuum. The cartridge source allows you to change ionization modes from electron ionization (EI) to chemical ionization (CI) and back again without shutting off your system. 7 Scan Fast, Across a Useful Mass Range Fast scan rates on a GC-MS system sound good, until you run into analytical limits on the utility of these faster scan rates. The ISQ features fast electronics that write data to disc nearly as fast as it can be acquired, so your applications are limited more by the physics of ion flight time, not the instrument s electronics. Mass spectra generated at high scan rates are comparable to those created at slower scan rates, meaning that you ll be able to confidently identify compounds using standard library searching. Unsurpassed Detector Dynamic Range The ISQ detection system was designed to provide a broad dynamic range to cover concentrations that could vary widely from sample to sample. Within a day s batch, unknown concentrations can be either very low, approaching the detection limits, or very high, pushing the capability of both the analytical column and the mass spectrometer. The detection system is modular to facilitate quick, easy, and cost effective replacement of the multiplier element over the life of the instrument. The conversion dynode and associated ion optics remain a permanent part of the instrument. Only the multiplier module is replaced. However, this technique is not often applied to routine applications due to its apparent complexity. The ISQ allows you to tap into the utility of chemical ionization, easily, to incorporate it into routine analytical applications. Plumb two reagent gases into the system, with software selection of the reagent gas inside your instrument method. Optimize methods for two different reagent gases, and switch easily between them without any manual modifications to the system. Change from chemical ionization to electron ionization and back without venting your mass spectrometer using the standard vacuum interlock feature. Acquire positive and negative ion chemical ionization results in a single injection using Thermo Scientific proprietary Pulsed Positive Ion Negative Ion Chemical Ionization (PPINICI ) capability, standard with chemical ionization on the ISQ system. Oil-Free Pump for Clean Environments An available oil-free pump preferable for clean environments is available for the ISQ system. Direct Sample Probe for Analysis without the Gas Chromatograph Perform quick characterizations of liquid or solid samples without using the gas chromatograph by employing a Direct Sample Probe. The Direct Sample Probe allows you to use either a micro-crucible approach to more slowly volatilize your sample (Direct Insertion Probe), or use a filament to rapidly heat the sample for a quicker volatilization (Direct Exposure Probe). Both are easily performed on the ISQ, all without venting the system.
