Leaving E18 follow the sign to the railway station, turn right and continue one block towards centre. The hotel can offer indoor car park. 5 TRANSPORTATION TO SANDEFJORD Sandefjord Airport Torp is located only 10 km from Sandefjord town centre and a short distance from E18. There are daily domestic arrivals from Bergen, Haugesund, Stavanger and Trondheim in addition to flights from Alicante, Amsterdam, Antalya, Barcelona-Girona, Beograd, Bergen, Bremen, Bodø, Bucuresti, Edinburgh, Harstad-Narvik, Gdansk, Gran Canaria, København, Liverpool, London, Lublin, Krakow-Katowice, Malaga, Mallorca, Milano-Bergamo, Nice, Pescara, Pisa, Poznan, Riga, Sardinia-Alghero, Stavanger, Szczecin, Tenerife, Trondheim, Vilnius, Visby, Warszawa and Wroclaw. To get from the airport to the town centre, there is a direct train Torp-Sandefjord that runs almost hourly. For more information visit the airport web-site at: Passengers arriving at Oslo airport Gardermoen north of Oslo may take the train to Sandefjord which runs almost hourly. It takes 2 ½ hours. If you are travelling by car, the E18 takes you from Oslo to Sandefjord in less than 2 hours. To get to Sandefjord, exit the E18 at the first Sandefjord sign, and you will reach the town centre and Clarion Collection Hotel Atlantic in only 5 minutes. The speakers represent a wide variety of fields and in many instances will present new material and analyses. The Whaling Museum in Sandefjord aims at being one of the major institutions presenting material connected to the history of whaling in a broad perspective. This has led us to organize the conference around the following themes:

7 EVENTUELT TIL BERG-HANSEN The hotel was built in 1914, and has since then played an important role in the history of Sandefjord. This was especially evident during the peak years of modern whaling, when Sandefjord grew to be the most important centre for whaling internationally. The hotel has chosen whaling as its historical theme, and throughout the hotel you will find displays, documents and showcases telling the story of whaling and its impact on the town and community of Sandefjord.
