Public School is pleased to extend you an invitation for Essay Writing and Speech Competition to be held under the guidelines of newly sprouted BHIWANI SAHODAYA CLUSTER, in its school premises on Saturday, December 8, 2012 on occasion of Anti-Corruption Day. The said competitions will be organized in two languages i.e. Hindi and English and under two categories (VI VIII and IX XII). It is a matter of immense pleasure to host the first activity of newly evolved Bhiwani Sahodaya Cluster with a sole motto to strengthen the symbiotic relationship among members of Sahodaya Complex. Enclosed here with please find the rules and regulations of the competition, categories, required proforma and other general instructions. The same can also be downloaded from our school website i.e. In case of any query you may please contact the event incharges. As it is the very first activity of BHIWANI SAHODYA CLUSTER we expect your precious presence and whole hearted co-operation to make this activity successful. With humble regards. 2 General Rules and Regulations : 1. Last date of receiving the entries is 1 st Dec Confirmation of participation can be send by post or on our -bkssps@gmail.com 2. Each school must submit their event wise list of participants on or before 1 st Dec Participants must come in school uniform and an I-Card issued by the respective school must also be brought by the participants. 4. A student can participate only in one activity. 5. B.K. SR. SEC. PUBLIC SCHOOL reserves First Rights on all submissions. All other rights to the Essay Competition too remain the property of the School. 6. The decision of the judges will be final. 7. No entry fee will be charged for the competition. 8. There will be 1 st, 2 nd, 3rd and a consolation prize in each event. 9. Venues of the competition will be school campus i.e. B.K. SR. SEC. PUBLIC SCHOOL, BAWANI KHERA (BHIWANI) 10. It is not compulsory for a school to participate in every/all events. 11. Reporting time will be sharp 8:00 a.m. 12. Every participant will get a participation certificate. 13. Each entry must have a Name, Class, Category, Full Mailing Address, Telephone Number and address of the candidate as well as school.

3 Essay Writing Competition Topic: Corruption: A Social Stigma (VI VIII) Keep Nothing Under Table, Except Your Shoes. (IX XII) Time: Word Limit: 1 Hour (VI VIII) (IX XII) Rules for the Essay Competition 1. Paper will be provided by the host school. 2. All writings must be original works. 3. Excessive violence, sex or religious extremism, determined by the judges, will result in disqualification. 4. Entries may not have been published in professional media. 5. Help of Internet may be taken but the work shall not be a replica of document on Internet. 6. To be eligible; essay must be from 450 to 500 words for juniors and 650 to 700 words for seniors in length. 7. No need to mention the details of the participant on Essay; participant will have to fill his/her candidature No. on it. 8. Each school may send only one participant in each group.

A Strange Land Time Limit: Junior Group 4 5Minutes (VI VIII) Senior Group 5 6Minutes (IX XII) Rules for Speech Competition 1. Judges shall monitor the speech during its development from topic selection to presentation to ensure that the rules are being followed and that the speeches are the students own work. 2. There will be a warning bell after 4 minutes for VI VIII group and after 5 minutes for IX XII group. 3. Speakers should use language, which is appropriate to the topic, the audience and the formality of the occasion. Avoid off-colour jokes, slang expressions and bathroom humour. 4. Statements which might be construed as slanderous, embarrassing, or containing gender, cultural, or racial stereotypes are unsuitable for the competition. 5. Speakers, form the beginning, should consider their intended audience to be the public -a mixed age group, not simply an audience of peers. 6. No props. or printed matter can be carried by a speaker. 7. Speeches shall not be less than four minutes and not more than five minutes in length for Junior Group and it should not be less than 5 minutes and more than 6 minutes for Senior Group. One point shall be deducted for each ten seconds or part thereof over or under this time limit. 8. Students must not identify themselves in any way, by name, or by school.
