2 About Technology Training As a part of ITSDE, Technology Training offers a variety of learning resources to empower students, faculty and staff. We offer in-person workshops, on-line learning experiences, as well as printable materials to help you Learn Your Way. Technology Training is located in the 1020 Wendover building and the majority of our in-person workshops are hosted in the Faculty Resource Center, Suite 206, or in the Technology Training Lab on the ground floor. Trainers Sara Nevedal Technology Trainer Sara earned her Associate s Degree in Visual Communications from Northwestern Michigan College and she studied Animation, Interactive Technology, Video Graphics, and Special Effects at Kendall College of Art and Design, and Columbia College of Chicago. Sara is trained as an Adobe Creative Suite Instructor and she has certifications in Apple ios Mobile, Apple Final Cut Pro, and Apple Aperture. Sara has over 10 years of experience in training and graphic design. Prior to joining N.C. A&T, she was a trainer with Apple, Inc. for 10 years where she provided workshops for customers, employees, and small businesses. In addition to managing the training management system (GoSignMeUp) and Lynda Campus, Sara provides workshops and sessions on Office 365, Adobe products, various technology resources, and a host of other topics. James Meeks Student Trainer James is a graduate student at N.C. A&T State University with a Bachelor s degree in Graphic Design. He joins Technology Training for a second year as he continues his education seeking a masters in software development. James assists with the design of printed materials, web content and helps facilitate workshops for ITSDE. 3 Workshop Catalog Technology Training offers a wide variety of in-person workshops. N. C. A&T students, faculty and staff can sign up for free handson training in any of three categories. Productivity, offers learning experiences in the Microsoft Office applications. Creativity includes workshops on the Adobe Creative Suite, design fundamentals and other multimedia platforms. Finally, Teaching and Learning with Technology includes a variety of practical applications to incorporate technology in the classroom. Microsoft Office Access Getting Started Access databases can help you store and track just about any kind of information, such as inventory, contacts, or business processes. Let s explore the paths you can take to create an Access desktop database, add data to it, and then learn the basic concepts of forms, queries and reports. (Advanced courses available on lynda. ncat.edu) Outlook Desktop Application* Need to stay connected? Leverage the power of Microsoft Outlook to stay connected. This course will tour the desktop application interface and show you how to connect to your exchange account on your devices. Go further with , contacts, and meetings. Communicate and connect at the next level. Excel Getting Started Are you a list person? Do you love numbers? Learn how to enter and organize data, perform calculations with simple functions, format the appearance of your data, and build charts in this essential class. Let s take a tour of OWA, the web-based version of Outlook, and discover why it is a great solution to access your from anywhere. Send, receive and manage your exchange on the web. Make your content dynamic and interactive with animations and triggers. This advanced session will help you take your presentations to the next level. Publisher Getting Started Would you like to create your own brochures, newsletters, and flyers? Do you need to prepare them for professional printing, distribution, or posting on the web? This workshop will help you design with text frames, format text and insert and position objects to customize the layout and design of publications. PRODUCTIVITY Word Essential Training Are you new to Microsoft Word? Have you ever used shortcuts? Do you want to add pictures, shapes and more formatting to your documents? Explore the basics of Microsoft Word with other beginners. We will create, save, organize, and share our documents in this fun group workshop. Creating Accessible Word and PDF Documents Are you reaching everyone? Can all users access your information in a friendly format? Join us in discovering design considerations that can help eliminate barriers in information technology. By using proper formatting and notation with Microsoft Word, you can create accessibility compliant documents that can convey your message to a wider audience. Other Productivity Workshops Word Going Further Making labels? Designing a newsletter? Want to create your own templates to streamline your workflow? Take your communications and efficiency to the next level with this course. We will focus on mail merge, desktop publishing features and time-saving tips. Delivering Engaging Presentations Have you experienced a tedious PowerPoint presentation? Want to learn some pointers to help engage your audience? This workshop will focus on best practices to keep all types of learners connected with your message. This course concentrates on best practices for creating and delivering a great presentation. Learn to find, schedule and host video collaboration sessions with anyone in the directory. Skype for Business offers professional meetings and collaboration with up to 250 people all integrated with your Office apps.

5 Workshop Catalog Adobe Creative Suite* Illustrator Essential Training Need to create some graphic elements from scratch? Want to learn more about the power of vector images? Let s jump into an introduction of Vector drawing concepts in this introductory course. We will create shapes and then apply colors, strokes, fills and effects. Learn about tools such as the pen, pencil, paint bucket and brushes. Finally, we will save and export our work for print or web. InDesign Getting Started InDesign is an essential tool for designers, ad agencies, magazines, newspapers, book publishers, and freelancers around the world. It s used to build everything from traditional print publications to interactive PDFs, digital magazines, and ebooks. This workshop is an introduction to the core features that make this page layout application so powerful, fun, and easy to use. Photoshop Essential Training Do you want to add some professional visual touches to your presentations, documents and newsletters? Join us to learn practical Photoshop techniques you can use to edit and enhance images. Learn how to resize images without losing quality, how to sharpen images, and non-destructive techniques for retouching. Finally, we will learn to add special effects and save with transparency for print or web using layers. *Availability of Adobe Creative Suite software varies by department. Photoshop Intermediate Do you want to get creative and make interesting compositions with layers? Are you looking for tips to make your Photoshop collages more realistic? Join us as we use the tools and concepts we discovered in the Photoshop Essentials workshop to take photo-compositions to the next level. Together we will fully uncover the power of layers and layer masks as well as working with text in this hands-on learning experience. CREATIVITY Audio & Video Recording and Editing Video Do you want to add video content to your on-line courses, presentations, website or other communications? Get some hands-on video experience! We will record a short video, import our video to Windows Movie Maker, edit it and learn how to publish. Podcasting Fundamentals Do you love listening to Podcasts? Have you thought about creating one? In this workshop,we will record ourselves using Garageband on ipads and Audacity on our computers, edit our recordings and walk away knowing the steps to publish. Recording and Hosting Video with My Mediasite N.C. A&T supplies faculty and staff with Mediasite server space and recording/ editing software. Learn to capture video using Mediasite Screen Recorder, upload and edit videos recorded with any device. WordPress Do you need to build a website? Have you been thinking about blogging or getting your portfolio on-line? Join us as we explore the possibilities with WordPress, which version is right for you and how to get started.
