Friday, November :30 am - 8:00 am Registration and Continental Breakfast 8:20 am - 8:30 am Opening Remarks 8:30 am - 9:30 am The Current State of the Consulting Profession and What s Next? Speaker: Erick Burchfield, Managing Director of Research, KCRA Erin Hichman, Senior Analyst, Lead for IT Matt Merker, Senior Analyst, Lead for Benefits
Whether through the launch of new products or services, entry into new geographic or customer markets, adoption of revolutionary new technologies, or through better talent sourcing and development, clients are looking to consultants to help them beat their competition. And with the economic recovery picking up steam, those clients are confronted with abundant challenges including the impact of disruptive technologies such as cloud and analytics, the imperative to transform business models to re-focus on revenue growth and profitability, and overcoming the complexity of new and ever-changing consumer behaviors and engagement models. Join Erick Burchfield, Managing Director of Research for KCRA, along with other KCRA analysts for this interactive session as they assess the implications of pressing market factors shaping current demand for consulting services. Top-line perspectives on major consulting services include: Strategy and Operations, Human Resources, Financial Consulting & Advisory and IT Strategy and Planning. Kennedy analysts will identify key market developments driving new client buying behavior during this must-attend session that offers attendees the exclusive opportunity to learn from Kennedy s top subject-matter experts. 9:30 am - 10:30 am Keynote: BCG s Keys to Being a Successful Firm of the Future Speaker: Ross Love, Senior Partner & Managing Director, The Boston Consulting Group Speaker: Debbie Lovich, Senior Advisor and Leader of BCG s Leadership and Talent Enablement Center in North America, The Boston Consulting Group What is the future of consulting? What will be dramatically different in the future? What will be the same? How will industry changes impact deliverables, talent and culture? In this provocative and interactive session, Ross Love, a Senior Partner who heads the New York office, and Debbie Lovich, a Senior Advisor who heads BCG s Leadership and Talent Enablement Center in North America, will answer these and many more questions about BCG and the consulting profession. Love and Lovich have been at the forefront of BCG s efforts to adapt to evolving market requirements. In a fast-changing world, they say the firm of the future will need to better communicate value creation to clients; tackle the talent challenge of making consulting a sustainable and fulfilling career, especially as more and more millennials join the ranks; and, create more flexible and open career paths such as working in industry or at a nonprofit and then returning to the firm. In addition, they will discuss the evolution of BCG s work-life balance program, PTO (Predictability, Teaming and Open Communication), which Lovich created in partnership with an HBS professor nine years ago. PTO stresses managing case teams differently to give members more predictable time off and benefits to both consultants and clients.
10:30 am - 11:00 am Morning Networking Break 11:00 am - 11:45 pm Panel: The EX Factor, How Design Thinking is Transforming HR Consulting Moderator: Liz DeVito, Associate Director, Lead for HR Stephen Coco, Principal and Global Practice Leader, People & Performance, Buck Consultants at Xerox Tyler Durham, Partner, President, Ketchum Change Ben Hormell, Director, US Catalyst, PwC Advisory Design thinking is breathing fresh air into HR consulting value propositions across the board. From benefits and compensation to HR service delivery and talent management, consultants are adopting the principles and methodologies of design thinking to help their clients create an employee experience the EX factor that drives competitive advantage. The last several years have seen an incredible shift in how organizations source, develop, and engage talent; and with new technologies removing barriers between work and life, the work environment is becoming radically different, as well. Against this backdrop, HR consultants recognize that the pitfalls of implementing an HR program are not necessarily avoided through traditional, linear consulting strategies, where a needs assessment informs direction and is followed by a pilot program before full implementation. A design thinking mentality shifts this approach and dares clients to embrace a fail fast philosophy that tests programs and interventions in real time via observation and feedback. The consultant s challenge is to assure HR that this type of customerdriven program is the most successful, and design thinking provides the framework to do so. 11:45 pm - 12:00pm Consulting's Fastest Growing Firms Announcement Consulting magazine's Fastest Growing Firms is the list of the fastest growing consulting firms in the United States - honoring consulting firms of all sizes and of any sector. We will unveil the full list and honor those recipients who are in attendance. 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Lunch 1:15 pm - 2:15 pm Healthcare Consulting: Digital Promises Outcomes that Require Balanced Risk and Reward Speaker: Liz Leonard, Associate Director, Lead for Healthcare Speaker: Laura Becker, Industry Analyst, Healthcare Consulting Research, KCRA The Future of Strategy & Operations Consulting: 2020 Speaker: Nathan Simon, Director, Lead for Strategy & Operations Speaker: Naima Hoque, Research Analyst, Strategy & Operations In 2015, healthcare digital consulting firms are emerging to facilitate critical decision making and opportunities within healthcare. Among the care payers and providers, pivotal Strategy & Operations Consulting (S&O) is moving inexorably towards helping clients to achieve durable
moments in the near term arise in response to mandated reform both in the U.S. and elsewhere. While digital innovations are way out beyond where healthcare organizations are in terms of adoption, imperatives tied to rising consumerism and shared risk in alternative care models (ACMs) present defining moments in both how care is delivered and paid for. The digital agendas must support operating model and economic risk models, and investments must be in tandem with local market funds flow, organization design [imperatives?] and sustainable patient demand. The need for digital alignment with ongoing healthcare system progress has never been greater and the scope of potential outcomes and risks are accelerating, driving new opportunities for industry specialized digital consulting, specifically in the area of big data/analytics/population health and patient engagement (portals, devices, wearables, point-of-care capabilities). solutions to their business problems rather than just furnishing right answers. Consultants have not only wellhoned methods for working across a client s organizational silos to collect qualitative and quantitative data, but also broad experience and tested, proprietary frameworks to guide solution discovery. These methods worked well in the traditional collect-analyze-recommend service model. But the client s desire for durable solutions is putting pressure on both sides of this model. Consultants need new knowledge, both explicit and tacit, as well as new ways to transfer this knowledge to a broader and deeper crosssection of the client organization. In this session, Nathan Simon and Naima Hoque will explore four ways in which consulting providers are responding to this challenge and how they may evolve over the next five years: new consultants (non-traditional skill sets), new partners (showcasing best-in-class methods and technologies), new methods (experiential learning facilities and ideation and prototyping forums), and new services (managed services, as-a-service platforms, and product design and development). 2:15 pm - 2:45 pm Afternoon Networking Break 2:45 pm - 3:45 pm Will Consulting Be the Next Industry to Face Digital Disruption? Speaker: Brendan Williams, Associate Director and Lead for Digital The digital revolution is one of the driving forces behind the period of profound change the world economy is currently undergoing. We have now entered the digital age, in which the development and diffusion of information and communication technologies have reached the point where they are bringing about fundamental changes to every aspect of our societies and our lives. As they help their clients grapple with the disruptive effects of digital technologies in their industries, consulting The Face in the Mirror: Consultants and Their Financial Services Clients, Now and in 2020 Speaker: Tomek Jankowski, Senior Analyst, Lead for Financial Services Speaker: Gabe Walle, Industry Analyst, Financial Services Consulting Research, KCRA The dust is finally beginning to settle from the first wave of
Powered by TCPDF ( firms are in many ways helping to lead the digital revolution, yet the consulting industry itself is by no means immune to these disruptive trends. KCRA s Brendan Williams will lead an interactive discussion looking at the impact of the digital revolution on the consulting industry. Participants will discuss the potential of current trends in digital technologies to cause significant disruption in the consulting industry in the near term, and will consider the both the positive and negative ramifications of a range of possible scenarios for themselves and their firms. new regulations imposed on financial services companies in the wake of the 2009 crisis. Anemic economic growth coupled with aggressive regulators, frustrated customers and disruptive new technologies have buried the old operating models. The industry is looking to consultants to help reinvent itself and its services as it struggles to remain relevant in a market environment undergoing tectonic shifts. During this hour-long session, the KCRA Financial Services Research team will lead a participatory exploration of the key trends (re)shaping the consulting world as it helps shepherd the financial services industry through one of its most transformative and traumatic eras. 3:45 pm Closing Remarks 3:45 pm - 4:45 pm Networking Cocktail Reception
