Functionality of the perfect combination Barrier 2IN1 is in a class of its own, because an innovative formulation and combination of polyethylene (PE) silage film and polyamide (PA) vacuum film is used in production. Optically, the new product can hardly be distinguished from conventional silage films. There is no difference in handling compared with conventional silage films. The enduser simply puts the newly developed Barrier 2IN1 film combination over the silage to be covered. After covering and once the fermentation process begins, the vacuum film absorbs moisture from the silage (see figure). Meanwhile, its stability, puncture resistance, and stretchability significantly increases. It is recommended to use an additional silo protective cover and gravel bags to protect the silo. After a few days, the separation of the film combination is complete. The vacuum film clings to the silage surface. This helps to effectively avoid moisture spots and decreaseses the risk of mold formation an advantage compared with conventional vacuum films.
