3 Comprehensive protection with parental controls Many families have rules about how much time the children spend on the Internet. So it s helpful when you can set your FRITZ!Box to limit the times certain users are allowed online. Convenience for your visitors, security for you. Your visitors will enjoy being able to use the FRITZ!Box wireless guest access with their own smartphones. You can determine what applications are allowed or choose to restrict your visitor s Internet use to surfing and . A time for everything Different users within the home have different requirements in terms of how often they want to go on the Internet and how long they want to spend online, so decide together on the time limits that apply to each user. Multiple devices, from smartphones to PlayStations, can be assigned to individual people. Determine suitable websites Decide which sites are suitable for your kids. FRITZ!Box helps you in this regard with a white list, which enables you to influence their Internet use. These settings can be individually configured for smartphones and other devices. Secure guest access Decide for yourself what your guests can and can t do. You might choose, for example, to allow surfing and but block applications such as file sharing. You can also block access to certain websites in the usual way.

5 Step 1 - Logging into your Fritz!Box. The FRITZ!Box user interface can be opened on any computer connected with the FRITZ!Box. 1. Start a web browser on your computer. 2. Enter fritz.box in the address line of the browser. 3. The FRITZ!Box user interface open. 4. You will then be asked to enter your Password. Your Password by default is your Wireless Key that was supplied with your router. 5. Once you enter these details you will be brought to the Main page on the router.

6 In the middle area of the window information is presented about then connections, interfaces and the configured convenience functions. In the lower area of the window, you see the last telephone calls conducted, the list of connected devices like computers, network storage and telephones and the telephone book entries edited last.

7 Step 2 Advanced View on Homepage. 1. Please make sure you are in the Advanced section by clicking on the View mode on the bottom on the page and changing from Standard to Advanced view. Step 3 Pre-Configured and Own Access Profiles. In the FRITZ!Box there are four preconfigured access profiles. You can create and configure additional profiles of your own. The preconfigured profiles are a) Standard b) Guest c) Unrestricted d) Blocked You can also set up additional profiles by clicking on New Access Profile on the bottom right hand of the screen.

8 Step 4 Creating your own Access Profiles. 2. Under the Filter section select the Access Profiles tab in the main screen. 3. Click on New access profile on the bottom right of the screen.

9 4. In the example below, I have called the new access profile Children.

10 Step 5 Setting up Time Limits. 1. Under the period option select restricted. 2. Now you can select the time that anyone in this profile can access the internet for each day of the week as illustrated above. 3. Once you have this set click Ok on the bottom right hand side

11 Step 6 Setting up Time Budgets.

12 1. To enable Time Limits, select restricted under the Time Budget area. 2. Type in the hours and minutes that you want a particular profile to have access to the internet for each day. 3. Do not tick the Shared Budget unless you want the Time Budget shared by all devices on this profile. Step 7 Creating Filter Lists Permit web sites with a whitelist: The whitelist is a filter list that should be used when access should be limited to just a few web sites. Access to web pages entered in the whitelist is permitted. When a whitelist is used, only those web sites included in the list can be opened, and no others.

13 1. Under the Filter Section click on icon on the profile you want to configure to allow access to specific sites. 2. Make sure you tick Filter Web Sites and also tick Allow HTTPS queries. 3. Select the (Whitelist) option.

14 4. Click on OK to save 5. Now you need to go back into the Filters section. 6. Click on Lists on the top tab. 7. Click on Edit under Permitted web sites (whitelist) 8. In this dialogue box you can enter the specific sites you want this profile to only have access to.

15 9. Click ok when done. Block web sites with a blacklist: The blacklist is a filter list that should be used when access to most web sites is to be permitted, and the number of blocked web sites is relatively small. Access to web pages entered in the blacklist is blocked. If the blacklist is used, no web site can be opened by entering its IP address. This is also true for web sites that are not included in the blacklist. For applications that address web sites only directly via the IP address, for instance virus scanner update software, the relevant IP addresses can be released for access by entering them in the exception list of Permitted IP addresses.

16 1. Under the Filter Section click on icon on the profile you want to configure to allow access to specific sites. 2. Make sure you tick Filter Web Sites and also tick Allow HTTPS queries. 3. Select the (blacklist) option.

17 4. Click on OK to save 5. Now you need to go back into the Filters section. 6. Click on Lists on the top tab. 7. Click on Edit under Blocked web sites (blacklist)

18 8. In this dialogue box you can enter the specific sites you want this profile to only have access to. 9. Click ok when done. Step 8 Applying a profile to a device 1. To apply a profile to a device, go back to the Filters section. 2. Click on the parental controls tab.

19 3. Select the profile that you want to allocate to a device in the dropdown section. In the example below I have allocated AnnemarieiPhone to the Children profile. 4. Click Apply. Step 9 Locking down the IP address for a device

20 1. Finally, you need to lock down the IP address assigned to each device. 2. For the specified device click on the icon opposite the device.

21 3. Click on Always assign this network device the same IPv4 address 4. Click OK when done.

22 Step 10 Setting up Guest Access Configuring Internet Access for Guests With the FRITZ!Box you can provide houseguests with an Internet connection of their own. At this guest access they can surf the web with their own devices, but cannot access the contents of your home network 1. Under the Guest Access section, click on Guest access enabled 2. Enter the name that you want to give your guest Wi-Fi for this example we called it Guest Access but you can change this yourself. 3. Set the Network Key that you will give to your guests. 4. Below this you can select if you want to restrict internet access to just web surfing and You can also decide if you want these devices to disconnect from the internet automatically after a set period of time. 6. Click Apply to action.

23 7. As in the previous section relating to Time Limits, you can set specific time periods that your guest Wi-Fi is enabled for.

24 Step 11 Setting up Port Forwarding Using port forwarding you allow incoming connections from the Internet. By releasing certain ports for incoming connections, you grant controlled access to the computers in your network to other Internet users. 1. To setup Port forwarding on the router click on the Permit Access section. 2. Click on New Port Forwarding button.

25 3. Tick the box to enable port forwarding and select the HTTP Server in the dropdown. 4. In the to computer drop down you can select a device or alternatively enter an IP address manually. 5. In the to IP address this will be selected for you.

26 6. Alternatively, if you need to select a range of ports to be opened, then select Other applications in the 1 st dropdown. In the Name type in a name for this port forward. i.e. PlayStation. 7. Enter the required port forwarding range that you may have been given by the manufacturer of that device. 8. Click OK.
