2 Francisca Mendoza - Biography Selected by MUSICAL AMERICA as a YOUNG ARTIST OF THE YEAR 1990, Francisca Mendoza has distinguished herself internationally as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician. She has performed at Carnegie Hall as a soloist with The New Chamber Orchestra of New York, at Steinway Hall as a member of The Arabesque Trio, in recital for The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center s Community Outreach program and she has been a guest with Robert Sherman at WQXR, New York. Ms. Mendoza has received many outstanding reviews and standing ovations for her performances in the U.S, Canada, Europe, Israel, Latin America and the Far East. Her commercially released CD recording of Debussy and Prokofiev sonatas has been praised as superb and enchanting. Her concerts have been broadcast on radio and television in the United States, South America, Spain and Mexico. Ms. Mendoza is also an active and dedicated teacher, she has been a member of the faculty at the Amati Conservatory and the Amati Music Festival since 2001 and She has maintained a private studio in NJ and NY for the past several years. She was recently invited to Mount Royal University in Calgary for a teaching residency and Master Classes at the Academy for Gifted Youth and the Advanced Performance Program. She was also a Guest Artist at the Opusfest Festival, Philippines, affiliated with Systema for the Philippino Youth, where she gave Master Classes and lessons and appeared as a soloist with the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra. Ms. Mendoza s upcoming engagements for 2015 include an Invitation by the Museo del Violino Antonio Stradivarius in Cremona to adjudicate the International Violin Making Competition 2015 and perform at the Gala Concert. Born in Chile to a prestigious musical family, Francisca Mendoza began her violin studies at the age of four at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música de Santiago, Chile. At the age of eight she gave her first concert and at age fourteen she performed as a soloist with the Youth Orchestra at the Conservatory. Later she won a scholarship from the Organization of American States as well as a merit scholarship from the University of Michigan to study in the United States. She graduated with a Diploma in Performance from The Cleveland Institute of Music and she holds a Masters degree in Performance and Literature from The Eastman School of Music, where she received the Carolyn Barash Award given annually to One Outstanding Student. She also participated in major summer festivals such as Aspen Music Festival where she was First Prize winner of The Starling International Auditions for violin, Music Academy of The West in Santa Barbara where she was a competition winner and performed as a soloist with the Academy Festival Orchestra, and L Académie Internationale d été in Nice, France.
