All proceeds will benefit the Gifted Music School s Student Programs and assist the school as it opens its new location. The Gala is slated for Saturday, May 6, 205 and will feature a Sponsor s reception and concert by the Gifted Music School Conservatory Orchestra followed by an audience reception. About Gifted Music School Knowing Utah s strong culture of arts appreciation and support, Dr. Vera Oussetskaia Watanabe and Salt Lake City native and award-winning performing artist Eugene Watanabe established the Gifted Music School in 2008 believing that Utah could become the national center for a rigorous children s music training program. We currently teach 322 students ages 3 to 8 across three divisions The Conservatory, the Preparatory Division and new this year, the public school program at Mountain View Elementary School in the Glendale neighborhood. Extensive data shows that when kids receive a music education, they increase their problem solving ability, become more productive and generally do better in life. More than creating top musicians that go on to study at the world s top conservatories, the Gifted Music School s goal is to create leaders and citizens who enhance the societies in which they live and work. Make Your Dollars Work Twice as Hard Individuals and companies can double their impact at this year s Gala. The school has received a challenge grant that will match dollar-for-dollar all sponsorship gifts of $,000 and higher. The anonymous donor seeks to encourage all donors to stretch this year to support the Gifted Music School s vital mission. Cumulative gifts to the Gifted Music School for our fiscal year (June, 204 to May 30, 205) will be counted toward the sponsorship levels. Please give generously this year and make twice the impact. PLEASE SPONSOR THE GALA TODAY Gifts to the Gifted Music School Work Hard to Make Joyful Music Gifted Music School graduates have received generous scholarships and/or gained admittance at top colleges and conservatories including Curtis Institute, Julliard School, Stanford University, New England Conservatory of Music, Cleveland Institute of Music, Vanderbilt University, Peabody Conservatory, Colburn School, and all local universities including the University of Utah, Brigham Young University, Utah State University, Southern Utah University, and Westminster College. The Gifted Music School Preparatory Division features Utah s first and only official Suzuki Strings School a resource for area students and teachers. The program is experiencing phenomenal growth. The Gifted Music School has established a public school pilot program with the Salt Lake City School district at Mountain View Elementary School in the Glendale neighborhood. Gifted Music School attracts students from Utah, Idaho and Wyoming and our studentbody grows each year. The full-scholarship Gifted Music School students are regularly highlighted on a national and local level: Featured nationally on NPR, and locally on KBYU, Deseret News, Salt Lake Tribune Five students were selected to perform at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Students are heard regularly with the Utah Symphony on their Salute to Youth concerts and other youth concerts.
