4 BIOGRAPHY Sergio Gallo joined Georgia State University in fall 2006, having previously served as faculty at the University of North Dakota and Millikin University. Dr. Gallo received his degrees from the Conservatoire Européen de Musique in Paris (Diplôme d'excellence), the Franz Liszt Academy of Budapest, Hungary, the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music (Master of Music and Artist Diploma) and the University of California (DMA). He has performed with orchestras throughout the Americas and in Turkey, as well as for Radio France and Radio Cultura. Dr. Gallo performed and taught in several countries in Asia and Europe, as well as in major cities in the United States and in his home country, Brazil. Dr. Gallo is the winner of concerto competitions of the Sao Paulo Symphony Orchestra and the University of California Symphony. He has received a grant from the Henry Cowell Incentive Funds at the American Music Center in New York, NY, and has toured North Dakota with a Challenge America Fast Track Review Grant award from the National Endowments for the Arts. Sergio Gallo is a Steinway artist and has recorded for the Eroica label. His recordings have been reviewed by Gramophone Magazine and American Record Guide. He is scheduled to record Liszt transcriptions of French operas and music by Adolf Henselt for Naxos. Larry Graham, piano, launched his career with numerous successes in piano competitions such as the Kosciusko, Bloch and G.B. Dealey and Concert Artists auditions resulting in his debuts with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and at New York's Carnegie Recital Hall. He was winner of the coveted "Prize of the Public" by overwhelming vote at the Queen Elizabeth Concours, the Arthur Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv, and the McMahan International Music Competition. Graham's superb performances have garnered acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic, playing over 35 different concerti in performances with orchestras and numerous solo engagements.
5 Graham has also performed extensively with chamber music ensembles, including the highly acclaimed Pablo Casals Trio, the only ensemble that Mr. Casals personally lent his name to. Graham received both his bachelor s and master s degrees from Juilliard. For 25 years he was Professor of Piano at the University of Colorado and continues working with adults and gifted pre college students. Steinway Artist, Dr. Lei Weng was hailed by the New York Concert at his Carnegie Hall sold out debut as a colorist of exemplary control. Weng has performed at prestigious venues around the world including Carnegie Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, and Steinway Hall in New York, Phillips Collections in Washington D.C., Chicago Culture Center, Beijing Music Hall, Taichung National Symphony Hall and Kaohsiung Cultural Center in Taiwan, Banff Center in Canada, Campana Theater in Italy, as well as music festivals of Tanglewood, Breckenridge, Messiaen, and TCU Cliburn institute. As a frequent orchestral soloist, Dr. Weng has appeared with orchestras in Cincinnati, Dallas, Seattle, Indiana, Louisiana, Fort Worth, Fort Collins, Greeley, Paducah, Beijing, Tianjin, Qingdao, Kaohsiung, as well as National Taitung University Symphony, and China National Symphony and Chorus. Dr. Weng is the keyboard area head and piano professor at the University of Northern Colorado, where he teaches talented students from around the world. He is a frequent guest professor at major conservatories in Asia. He has given numerous masterclasses and clinics, and frequently judged national and international competitions. Weng s students have won First Prizes in many national and international competitions and have performed with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Breckenridge Festival Orchestra, and at New York s Carnegie Hall. Students of Weng have been admitted into such prestigious music schools as the Juilliard, Eastman, New England, Peabody, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Manhattan School of Music. Dr. Weng is the Founder and Director of the Colorado International Piano Academy at the University of Northern Colorado.
