2 The Centre for ast uropean Studies of the University of Warsaw (STUDIUM UROPY WSCHODNIJ UW) is organizing the Warsaw ast uropean Conference, Thirteenth Annual Session, to be held in Warsaw, July 18-21, TH WARSAW AST UROPAN CONFRNC will be held under the distinguished patronage of the Rector Magnificus of the University of Warsaw, Professor Marcin Pałys. Below we present a list of general topics of the Conference: Authoritarianism Borders Civil Society, Rule of Law Communism, Post-Communism Culture Deportations ast vs. West astern Partnership conomy, conomic Transformation nergy Security, NATO, Regional Security Globalization History and Contemporary Problems Imperialism, neoimperialism Minorities Nations, Nationalities, National Conflicts, Nation Building NGOs Religion Conflict of Historical Memories in the Region Transformation, Democratization West in the Post-Communist World and others 2

3 APPLICATION FORMS & PAPR PROPOSALS APPLICATION FORMS as well as PAPR PROPOSAL FORMS, ABSTRACT SUBMISSION AND ACCOMMODATION ISSUS are handled by the Internet Registration System found at: (actve from November 1,2015). Please follow instructions found on the site in filling in the correct forms. Please note that participants with individual papers will be brought together into panel groups. TH PAPR PROPOSALS, full papers and their abstracts must be written in nglish. However, the Conference organizers will allow some presentations in the panels to be delivered in Polish, on condition that a comprehensive written summary or the entire text in nglish is made available to the audience and the organizers. The Programme board (conf.studium@uw.edu.pl) must be informed earlier (no less than 1 month in advance). PANL PROPOSAL We are ready to consider other subjects of presentation broadly reflecting the main theme of the Conference. Panels may be proposed under these conditions: 1. the theme of the panel has to reflect the main theme of the Conference, 2. the applicant proposing the panel must guarantee 3-4 participants, 3. the applicant or one of the participants has to be the Chair of the proposed panel. Furthermore, if the conditions are fulfilled, a discussant can also be assigned to the panel. Proposals are to be submitted directly to the secretary of Programme board on conf.studium@uw.edu.pl LOCATION TH CONFRNC will be held in the Old University Library building at the University of Warsaw historical main campus, in the historical centre of Warsaw, at 26/28, Krakowskie Przedmieście Street. SCHDUL TH CONFRNC will begin on Monday, July 18 at 11 AM, and end on Thursday July 21 at 6 PM, Further information concerning schedules will be delivered to registered participants by and the registration system. 3

Speakers must pay the fee at least one month in advance, until June 18, Listeners may pay on the first day of the conference. FUNDING PARTICIPANTS of the WC are responsible for covering all travel and accommodation costs. WC organizers will no longer provide free accommodation to participants of the Conference. However, registered speakers will be offered half-paid accommodation (about 10/night) in University student hostels, double rooms. For listeners of the Conference paid accommodation (at a reduced price 16 per night) in Warsaw University student hostels and hotels can be arranged. ACCOMMODATION TH RGISTRATION SYSTM WBSIT, beginning from June 1, 2016, will provide information concerning accommodation in Warsaw University student hostels. PLAS note that reservations for these hostels may only be handled through completing a certain step in the process of internet registration at PLAS send all the questions concerning accommodation to hotel.conf.studium@uw.edu.pl. 4

6 TH WARSAW AST UROPAN RVIW The Wreview presents the articles concerning post-communist world its politics, history, economics, cultural and linguistic issues. The WReview publishes the best papers presented by the participants of the annual Warsaw ast uropean Conference, which gathers scholars from the region (the post-soviet countries, ast- Central urope, the Balkan countries, Turkey) as well as those from other regions (Western urope, the U.S., Australia and Canada). Current issue of WReview presents the papers from several previous conferences. In the review they have been grouped according to the geographical key in the follow sections: ast-central urope, Russia, South Caucasus, Turkey and Central Asia. 7
