3 A word from the CEO Frédéric Granotier Chief Executive Office Dear partners, In order to propose more sustainable solutions and meet your needs and expectations, ranging from the most basic right up to the most complex, Lucibel has divided its products in 3 distinct brands: MYLUM for an excellent quality-price ratio, LUCIBEL PRO for high-performance and customisable products and LUXITIS for premium LED products made in France. This catalogue contains exclusively all products of the brand LUCIBEL PRO and you will discover some major changes. As you will see, the performance of all products has been significantly increased. This is particularly the case for the LuciPanel Evo range, the most efficient panel on the market. Ever since the creation of our production site in Barentin, Normandy, we have intensified our industrialisation operations and are now proud to present some of the products manufactured in Barentin (Tubular, Powerlight COB Site Kit, adaptation Frame ) in this catalogue. This change has enabled us to pay even more attention to the quality of our products, with increased availability and modularity to suit customer requirements. Finally, more than ever Lucibel s aim is to provide you with more than just light. Our internet via light rays (LiFi broadband) solution will be commercialised from September 26 onwards and will be manufactured at our Barentin site. 8 Lighting, a new communication media: LiFi by Lucibel Lucibel LiFi (Light Fidelity) solution is a bi-directional data transmission technique offering a high speed Internet connection building on LED light modulation. The LiFi system developed by Lucibel is composed of LED lighting fixture and Li-Fi USB key which enables to transmit and receive data transported by light waves, thus allowing complete mobility technology, Innovative and ecofriendly Each LiFi lighting fixture emits information delimited by a cone of light; the connectivity is therefore accessible only within a restricted area which ensures a zone of privacy and total data security. Thanks to LiFi technology, any environment where data privacy is essential, such as banks, defence and security sectors, research and development (R&D) centers and head offices, could benefit from a secure mobile connection. In accordance with respect for environment where electromagnetic compatibility standards are critical, the LiFi connectivity solution positions itself as a Wi-Fi alternative in health and wellness, health protection and education sectors. Contrary to Wi-Fi for which the connection quality is related to distance and for which the frequency band is approaching saturation, LiFi transforms the omnipresent lighting into a source of mobile connectivity, allowing a seamless connectivity within a space. Custom designed with exactly the same size and colour as the suspended metal ceiling installed (LuciPanel 47W - 46x596mm - RAL9), the 22 LED lighting panels have been thus perfectly adapted to the building structure thanks to their ultra-flat design (9mm thick) and their compatibility with SOFERIM s intelligent lighting management system. First of all, the operating life we indicate for our products is not the amount of time before they stop working, but the duration after which they only emit 7% of their initial light. Our products operating life is calculated on the basis of the working lives of their key components, i.e. the LEDs and the critical electronic components. We select our critical electronic components according to their operating life at the rated operating temperature, to ensure that the electronic portion functions throughout the product s operating life. Our LEDs are tested for 6 hrs (more than 8 months) at different temperatures, and we record a temperature measurement every hrs, thus allowing us to define the LM8 for the LED. This enables us to calculate the product s TM2, i.e. the forecast of its decrease in light emission over time. This is how we reach the result indicating that at its operating temperature, after 5 hrs the product will only emit 7% of its initial light. Binning - LED colour range After their manufacture, the colours and voltages of the LEDs produced may vary considerably and randomly. These characteristics are then measured in order to sort the LEDs according to performance range. Each range groups together LEDs with similar colours, light outputs and voltages. When choosing the LEDs for our LUCIBEL lighting elements, we make a very precise bin selection (LED colour range) to ensure that any variations in colour or intensity between LEDs are not visiblee. 11 LIGHTING GUIDE Lighting guide FAQ How do you dissipate the heat emitted by the LEDs? An increase in the temperature in the LED core will have a negative impact on its operating life and performances. To prevent this, LUCIBEL has made it a top priority to control heat dissipation in its products. Below is an example of heat management and distribution in our Lucicup Downlight. In order to effectively evacuate the heat produced by the LED, LUCIBEL heat sinks are made of aluminium with high thermal conductivity. The heat sink (an extruded part with fins) is designed to lead the heat towards the ambient air and evacuate it by convection. What do you take into account in your energy efficiency calculation? (There are often large differences between suppliers) The energy efficiency of the system in lumens per watt reflects the ratio of the light emitted over the power consumed. It is a very useful value when comparing two different products or technologies. To be relevant, this efficiency must be that of the complete system (including the LED source and the driver), and all comparisons should be made between systems. Here you can see for example the difference between the efficiency of the LED and the efficiency of the system: 3 lm / W LED at Tj = 25 C LED efficiency (from the technical data sheet) 5 lm / W LED at Tj = 85 C 9 lm / W Light output LED module efficiency (system without driver) 8 lm / W With driver Efficiency of the LED system It should also be noted that efficiency is not the only parameter to be taken into account. For example, the Colour Rendering Index (CRI) is also important, since the higher it is, the lower the efficiency. Photometry is also crucial: a lighting element may be very efficient and yet not direct the light where it is necessary! In this case it is better to have less efficiency, but with a beam focused on the useful surface area to be illuminated. Do your products comply with the latest eco-design directives? ErP2 or DIM2 Yes, our products are developed and tested in compliance with the directive 29/25/CE, which has been applicable since September 23 and sets a minimum performance level for LED-based lighting and other technologies. This concerns key values such as energy efficiency, colour deviation, the power factor, etc. The directive also requires more detailed communication of product information to users (via technical data sheets, packaging and a website). Our products are subjected to technical measurements and aging tests to guarantee the performances required by the directive. LUCIBEL PRO

14 GLOSSARY Glossary Electrical power supply The term electrical power supply refers to a system capable of supplying electricity to elements which require this energy to function. The properties of a power supply are defined in current, voltage and frequency. Beam angle The light ray diffusion angle designates the angle at which the lighting element illuminates. A narrow angle (3 degrees for example) illuminates a limited surface and is suitable for illuminating small zones. A wide diffusion angle will be required to illuminate larger surfaces. Classes I, II, III Electrocution protection classes. Class I: The unit possesses a functional insulation with earth terminal and earth bonding link. The plug of these elements is foreseen with an earth pin to which all metal parts are connected. Class II: The units are foreseen with enhanced insulation preventing access to all metal parts. The plugs of class II elements do not have an earth pin. Classe III: The unit functions with a safety extra low voltage (SELV) (5V maximum). The voltage reduction must be achieved with an isolation transformer ensuring galvanic isolation between the primary and secondary windings. Lamp base A lamp base is the metal end enabling the lamp s attachment in a socket. There are several types of sockets, available in several sizes. Different socket types include the screw base, bayonet base, pin base and sockets composed of two connectors. WEEE Waste from Electric and Electronic Equipment (abbreviation WEEE) refers to the waste coming from equipment functioning with electrical current or electromagnetic fields, i.e. all equipment powered via an electrical power socket, battery or accumulator. This includes lighting elements. Low Voltage Directive 73/23/CEE European Directive imposing a certain number of rules concerning electrical safety for lighting devices: EN6598- (General conditions), EN (fixed lighting for general usage) and EN (recessed lighting). RoHS Directive 26/95/EC The RoHS European Directive (Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment) restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment: lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybromobiphenyls (PBB), polybromodiphenylethers (PBDE). Operating life (of a lamp) The operating life of a LED indicates the duration after which it starts to emit a luminous flux lower than 7% of its initial flux. Each operating life expressed on the technical data sheets corresponds to operation at 25 C. Lighting efficiency (lumen per watt: lm/w) This defines the capacity of a lighting element to generate a large flux from one electrical Watt (W) absorbed. The higher the lighting efficiency, the less electricity the lamp will consume. IK, Shock resistance The IK index defines the degree of protection of the equipment against physical impact damage (figures increasing from to according to the impact force). IP, Protection rating The IP index express the degree of protection from the penetration of solid bodies (st number protection increasing from to 6) and from penetration by water (2nd number protection increasing from to 8). CRI (or Ra): Colour Rendering Index This index defines the ability of a light to avoid deforming the coloured appearance of the objects it illuminates. For example, sunlight has a CRI of. This index ranges from to, and CRI < 6 = poor; 6 < CRI < 8 = correct; CRI > 8 = good; CRI > 95 = excellent. 4 LUCIBEL PRO

15 GLOSSARY Glossary Lumen (lm) Quantity of light produced by a source: light emission. The light emission value expressed in the technical data sheets corresponds to the light in lumens leaving the lighting element. Luminance (candela per square meter: cd/m²) The light intensity produced or reflected on a given surface. It enables estimation of the glare. Lux (lx) Quantity of light reaching a surface: lighting of this surface. EC marking Indicates the conformity of a product to the requirements of applicable European directives. ENEC marking Indicates product compliance with European safety standards. LED recycling The Barred bin symbol must be applied to all light packaging since 25 and indicates that it must not be disposed of in the household waste bin. Disused LED lamps are classified as WEEE (waste from electrical and electronic equipment). A LED lamp is almost entirely recyclable. Its main advantage over the fluocompact lamp is that it contains no mercury or fluorescent powder. Disused lamps may therefore be returned to the retailer, supermarket, DIY shop or wholesaler where they may be placed in a public container in the same way as one does with batteries. Disused LED lamps may also be disposed of in public waste disposal centres. Many local councils have placed lamp disposal containers in their waste disposal centres. Some waste disposal centres also allow professionals to dispose of disused lamps free of charge. Colour temperature: Kelvin (K) Characterizes the apparent colour of the light emitted by a light source, and is expressed in Kelvin. The colour temperature is low for warm lights and high for cold lights: < 33 K = warm tones; between 33 and 53 K = natural tones; > 53 K = cold tones. Glow wire test This test enables observation of the behaviour of lamp composition materials when exposed to high temperatures (65, 75, 85 and 96 ). Measurement of the lighting element s fire resistance. Watt (W) Unit of electrical power. The power consumed over a given period represents the energy used.
