The structure of an LED is completely different to that of a traditional light bulb. LED lamps are based on chip technology. An LED (light emitting diode) is the heart of an LED lamp. It is an electronic semiconductor device of a particular material composition which, when current passes through it, gives off light. The production of new LED technologies makes large strides in fulfilling those goals for the company. LED lamps allow for great reductions in power consumption, along with reduced CO 2 emissions, when compared to equivalent incandescent bulbs. Also, the longer life cycle of 35,000 hours, compared to 6,000 for CFL and 1,000 for incandescent lights, creates less need for replacement, effectively meaning less waste. Finally, LEDs contain no mercury, making them recyclable. LEDs need much lower energy to produce a comparable amount of light than any other light source type. Hence, LEDs have much lower wattage to replace your current lamps wattage. Step 3: Choose your Options Choose your colour temperature* Do you need dimmable bulbs? Warm Neutral *The light colour or colour temperature is measured in Kelvin (K). The higher the Kelvin the cooler the light colour is. 13
