10 PRC The Prevention of chemical risk unit is an intramural service of the CNRS Institute of Chemistry. It provides a scientific support to the CNRS and the chemical sector. The unit promotes chemical safety and protection of human health against dangerous chemicals. The activities meet the needs of the scientific community, occupational health and safety managers, public agencies, industry and the general public. Expert appraisal The unit contributes to the expertise work at national and european level for the toxicological and physico-chemical evaluation of chemicals, and responds to requests from government agencies, local authorities and entreprises. Information The multidisciplinary team responds to requests for information related to the hazards of chemicals and their proper conditions of use. It provides scientific support and implements communication activities. Training courses The unit offers training courses in the field of chemical safety. These courses are intended for users of chemicals, security managers and occupational physicians. Several levels are available, from risk awareness to proficiency courses. Training courses may also be designed to map specific needs.
