3 What is IUCEE? The vision of IUCEE is to improve quality and global relevance of engineering education and research globally, to find solutions to global challenges, starting with India and US. IUCEE was conceptualized by over 150 leaders of engineering education and businesses from US and India and with the assistance of ASEE, Private Industries and IFEES in 2007 IUCEE was initiated with private support and is now partially sustainable

4 Indo-US Engineering Faculty Institute The Context India graduates ~ 900,000 engineers a year Many of these are of questionable quality US graduates ~ 98,000 engineers a year Many of these are not globally prepared The Need The Opportunity This presents the opportunity for cross pollination and scaling up of best practices in collaboration between India and US The Challenges of the Global Economy require that engineering education in the US and in India be of high quality and of global relevance

5 Faculty Leadership Institutes (FLIs) US Faculty or Industry Expert conducts One Week Workshop in India Workshop topics Core Subjects Effective Teaching Technology Tools Leadership Reach Large numbers of Faculty Reach Very Large numbers of Students Nearly 200 one week FLI workshops conducted for ~4,000 Indian engineering faculty

6 Faculty Leadership Institutes (FLIs) More than 200 US faculty members from over 50 US institutions participating in FLIs. FLIs have helped create network for collaboration. 200 Webinars on teaching and research topics have been conducted on line by US faculty to over 20,000 Indian faculty and students during a year Global faculty experts deliver Mini Courses Lectures directly as LIVE webinars to students in classrooms in India Interactivity possible by texting live and

7 International Conferences & Research IUCEE assists Consortium Colleges with speakers for International Conferences, live and via webinars Goal of providing mentoring and coguides for faculty in Indian colleges who are pursuing PhD Members Benefit from access to pool of IUCEE US experts for research interactions, mentoring and guiding

9 Twinning Programs Twinning arrangements for degree programs between Indian institutions and US institutions are in planning stages Possible programs are: BS programs Study two years at US institution after two years at Indian institution to obtain BS degree at US institution BS/MS programs Study one more year and obtain a MS degree as well at US institution Plus 1 MS program Study one academic year at US institution after BS degree at Indian institution to obtain MS degree at US institution; some on line courses may be taken prior to attending US institution
