Due to the bandwidth restrictions that Satellite communication imposes, Sat-Chat is designed to work within these stringent requirements and still provide encrypted Video, Voice, IM Chat communications and File Transfer without adding any significant overhead to the transmission. Sat- Chat can also connect and communicate with all of the other DigiGone encrypted communication products, such as DigiGone Executive, Secure Chat, and Secure Mobile. For best results, you will need a headset and microphone that plugs into the audio ports of the PC or laptop. Although you can use external speakers and microphone, risk of feedback or the other party hearing their own voice can occur. Furthermore a web camera and Internet connection is needed to be able to take advantage of all the features that the DigiGone Sat-Chat offers. The DigiGone Sat-Chat application registers with a secure relay server at Diginonymous LLC using standard HTTP port number 80. Therefore it will work through most firewalls as the connection is being made from the inside of the firewall to the secure relay server in the Internet. Configuration of the SAILOR FleetBroadband terminal is not necessary as the DigiGone Sat-Chat application will work with factory default settings i.e.: Router Mode (NAT). Only user intervention is to ensure the SAILOR FleetBroadband terminal is online with Standard Data Service. Insert the DigiGone Sat-Chat key into the USB port of your computer and follow the prompts below. 1) AUTOPLAY window appears, press enter or click OK to start the Sat-Chat program. 2) The Diginonymous LLC and Sat-Chat logos appear, along with the DigiGone Sat-Chat software version number. 3) Read and acknowledge the EULA. Place a checkmark in the box in the lower right if you do not want the EULA to appear again at the next start up. If you click Cancel because you don t agree to the terms of the EULA, Sat-Chat will shut down. 4) Enter the user name and password for the Sat-Chat Key you are using, and then click LOGIN to continue. 4 While loading, Sat-Chat will automatically check to see if there are any updates available. If updates are found, you will be prompted to download them either now or later. After the update check, the select mode screen will appear. You either select Host if you are initiating the Chat, or Guest if you are attending the Chat session. After selecting either Host or Guest mode one of the below windows will appear where the user has to enter Server ID, Username and Password. HOST Mode: The HOST chooses what the Server ID is going to be, by manually entering the name for the Server. The HOST can choose whatever name, as long as the other Guests are aware of the name and the correct spelling and capitalization of the name. The HOST chooses the Server password, by manually entering a password. The HOST can choose whatever Password, as long as the other Guests are aware of the Password and the correct spelling and capitalization of the Password). The HOST can enter the name by which he want to be identified during the chat session If the HOST desire to directly Host the session without going through the secure relay server, then put a check mark in the Allow Direct Connections box. Guest Mode: The GUEST enters the Server ID received from the person hosting the chat session. The GUEST enters the password that the person hosting the chat session provided. The GUEST enters the name by which he wants to be identified during the chat session. If the Host desires to directly Host the session without going through the secure relay server, then put a check mark in the Attempt Direct Connection box. Once the appropriate boxes are filled in, click on the green Start Chat button to initiate the Chat Session. After logon to a HOST the below window will appear. 6 Bandwidth consumption: The DigiGone Sat-Chat upload bandwidth consumption for each service is as shown in schema 1 below: Schema 1: Upload Bandwidth Consumption The Video and Audio download bandwidth consumption is equal to the upload bandwidth times the number of other users sending data. The idle bandwidth consumption is approximately as shown in the schema 2 below: Schema 2: Idle Bandwidth Consumption Tested: The DigiGone Sat-Chat was tested successfully with SAILOR 150, SAILOR 250 and SAILOR 500 with Standard Data Service. The recommended camera settings are kbps with a frame rate of 5 per second. Higher settings might work but depends on how much bandwidth the Inmarsat network allocates to SAILOR terminal.
