1 1) Open your web browser and go to 2) In the SEARCH bar enter Spybot Search & Destroy (without the quotes) and then click on the green GO >> button to the right. 3) If the search does not return something like the example below, then recheck your spelling. Caution: there are other programs with similar names. 4) When the search returns with something like the example below, then click on the green button next to Download Now on the far right.

2 5) Once you ve clicked on the Download Now button described above, you may get an intermediate page with something similar to the message below. At this point, you have not yet actually downloaded the product. Click on the Spybot Search & Destroy 1.5 link as shown. 6) Click the Download Now link 7) You will get a popup similar to the File Download example below. Click on the Save button to save it to disk.

3 8) These instructions assume that the file is being saved to your computer s desktop. Once the destination folder (the desktop is also considered a folder ) is set to the Desktop, then click on the Save button. 9) You may see a Downloading progress bar similar to the one below 10) Note whether or not the checkbox (Close this dialog box when download completes) is checked on the box shown above. If it is checked, then the box/window will close on its own. Otherwise, you will have to click the Close button on the lower right manually. 11) Exit your web browser.

4 12) Find the icon on your desktop named spybotsd15 (or something similar) as shown, and double-click it to open it and install the program. 13) You may get a security warning about opening Spybotsd15.exe. Click on the Run button to proceed. 14) We will assume that you are using English to use during installation, so just click on the OK button to proceed. 15) Welcome - Close your other applications and then click Next.

5 16) License Agreement - Click on the radio button to the left of I accept the agreement and then click on the Next button. 17) Select Destination Location - Leave the specified path as displayed, and click the Next button.

6 18) Select Components - De-select (click to turn off the check boxes) for Additional languages and Skins to change appearance to keep the install size to a minimum. 19) Select Start Menu Folder - Click the Next button near the lower right of the window. If you do not want a Start Menu entry, then click the check box near the lower left labeled Don t create a Start Menu folder first.

7 20) Select Additional Tasks - You may choose (by checking the appropriate box) whether or not you want a desktop icon to run Spybot Search & Destroy, or a quick launch icon (the small ones just next to the Start button on the task bar. If you re not sure, then just click on the Next button to proceed. Network Evaluation recommends that the bottom box Use system settings protection (TeaTimer) be unchecked. It will help protect you, but there is a significant performance penalty for its use. 21) Ready to Install - Click the Install button to proceed.

8 22) During installation, you will see the Installing window with a progress bar showing the progress. When finished, you ll get the completion window. Both are shown below: 23) If you selected Download updates immediately during step 18, your security software may warn you of the updating process. The picture below is for Symantec/Norton. Other products (McAfee, Trend Micro, etc.) will have similar types of warnings. Select Allow and click OK to proceed. If you are running some versions of windows, the installation routine may ask you to reboot your computer prior to using the program. At this point, the Completing the Spybot Search & Destroy Setup Wizard will present you with one of two possible windows as shown below and on the next page:

9 24) The Completing the Spybot Search & Destroy Setup Wizard window may present you with a choice of whether or not to start running the program at this point. 25) If you wish to start running Spybot Search & Destroy, then just click on the Finish button near the lower right of the completion window. 26) Completing the Spybot Search & Destroy Setup Wizard window may ask you to restart your computer. 27) Once your computer has been re-booted, you may usespybot Search & Destroy If you need assistance with using Spybot Search & Destroy, please download the PDF document PC-CleanupRunSpybot from
