Physicals & Insurance All students-athletes must have a physical on file before participating in any interscholastic activity, including but not limited to try-outs, off-season conditioning, and/or competition. The physical must be documented on the Miami-Dade County Public Schools physical form completed, including the Consent and Release from Liability Certificate and notarized. All student-athletes must purchase school insurance prior to participating in activities as stated in the Physicals section, including football players. This is for off-season and in-season. If a student-athlete participates in multiple sports, other than football, you need only purchase insurance once. In addition to school insurance, football student-athletes must purchase the catastrophic insurance which is only valid for the football season. In addition to physical and insurance, every student-athlete must provide proof of age (Birth certificate or passport) before the first contest.
Physicals & Insurance Athletic Physicals forms are being redone and will be available soon. Stay posted to our school website for updated information Incoming 9 th grade athletes interested in practicing or trying out for sports through the summer must have Student Accident Insurance through the following link: After purchasing the coverage, present a copy of the receipt to Coach Perez in the Athletics Office.
Eligibility Rules The Athletic Director will determine the eligibility of all athletes, but it is the responsibility of each coach to monitor the grades of their student- athletes and to set up a plan for potential ineligible players. It is the responsibility of the student-athlete to meet the standards for athletic eligibility. FHSAA Rules of Eligibility: In order for a student-athlete to participate in interscholastic athletics, a student must meet the standards set forth by State statute and the FHSAA. All incoming 9th graders who have been academically promoted from their middle school are eligible to participate the first semester.
Eligibility Rules Cont d To be eligible to participate in interscholastic extracurricular activities, students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale in all courses attempted, including conduct. These would be all high school courses taken, except those courses to which a forgiveness policy has been applied. If a student in the 9th or l0th grade falls below the 2.0 cumulative GPA, the student will be allowed to participate on a semester-by by-semester basis if the student meets these requirements: Earns a 2.0 GPA on all courses taken the previous semester.
Eligibility Rules Cont d Signs an academic performance contract with the school. Attends summer school as necessary. Once the student enters the 11th grade, he or she must have and maintain, from that point forward, a 2.0 cumulative GPA to remain eligible. A student-athlete will become ineligible once he/she has accumulated 20 tardies or 10 absences from school.
AWARDS ATHLETIC COMMITMENT At Reagan High, a Varsity athlete will receive one of the following awards per sport, per year: 1st year letter with sports pin, 2nd year individual sport felt bar, 3rd year felt BISON, 4th year 4 year plaque with engraved name and sport.
