1 Public Information Bulletin Organizational structure of the Central Statistical Office The Central Statistical Office consists of the following organizational units: Office of the President Director Agnieszka KOMAR-MORAWSKA Deputy director Katarzyna CICHOŃSKA tel , fax The tasks of the Office of the President include the provision of services for the President of the CSO, other members of the Office Management, and other consultative and advisory units; carrying out tasks resulting from the supervision of the President of the CSO over units of official statistics services; analysing tasks and needs within the field of the organisation of official statistics services; providing legal and legislative services for the Office Management, and keeping the archives. Programming and Coordination of Statistical Surveys Department Director Janusz DYGASZEWICZ Deputy director Anna DOBROWOLSKA Deputy director Anna ŁOMIAK tel , fax The task of the Programming and Coordination of Statistical Surveys Department is to coordinate and conduct work on the preparation of the multiyear programme of official statistics development, annual programmes of statistical surveys of official statistics, and statistical study plans; to coordinate the work of official statistics units over identifying public administration information systems for the purposes of statistical surveys and cooperation with system administrators in this field; to coordinate the preparation of the Draft Regulation of the Prime Minister on defining templates of forms and questionnaires; to coordinate the preparation and implementation of surveys, including censuses and monitoring of the course of the work, using geographic information systems (GIS) in statistical surveys. Methodology, Standards and Registers Department Director Ireneusz BUDZYŃSKI Deputy director Monika BIENIEK tel , fax The task of the Methodology, Standards and Registers Department is to initiate developmental work in the field of the methodology of official and statistical registers and standards, and sampling frames for social surveys; to carry out work in the field of basic classification standards, terms and definitions, to keep statistical registers and the system of frames for social surveys ensuring the subjective coherence of surveys and to keep the national official business register (REGON) and of the territorial division of the country (TERYT); implementing the rules of the
2 European Statistical system in the area of statistical registers, classification standards and quality standards. Analyses and Comprehensive Studies Department Director Renata BIELAK Deputy director Ewa CZUMAJ tel , fax The task of the Analyses and Comprehensive Studies Department is to initiate and conduct work aiming at the preparation of aggregated information, analyses and publications that characterise the social and economic situation of the country and to prepare publications involving international comparisons. National Accounts Department Director Maria JEZNACH Deputy director Olga LESZCZYŃSKA-LUBEREK Deputy director Alicja TRUSZYŃSKA tel , fax The task of the National Accounts Department is to prepare methodological rules and to conduct and coordinate studies and analyses in the field of the national accounts system, fiscal notification of debt and deficit of government and local-government institutions sector, investments and fixed assets in national economy, international comparisons of GDP and purchasing power parity, and to present their results. Macroeconomic Studies and Finance Statistics Department Director Mirosław BŁAŻEJ Deputy director Krystyna STRZELECKA tel , fax The task of the Macroeconomic Studies and Finance Statistics Department is to prepare analyses; to initiate, programme and conduct methodological work; to coordinate surveys and to prepare and publish their results pertaining to macroeconomic analyses and the evaluation of the socio-economic situation of the country and the economic situation, including regional, sectoral and international conditions, as well as public finances and institutions of the financial market. Regional and Environmental Surveys Department Director Dominika ROGALIŃSKA Deputy director Wiesława DOMAŃSKA tel , fax The task of the Regional and Environmental Surveys Department is to initiate, programme and prepare methodology and to conduct regional surveys on a countrywide scale; to prepare regional aggregated studies and analyses; to coordinate work of the units of official statistics services in the field of regional surveys; to initiate research work and to programme and conduct methodological work, to coordinate surveys, to prepare and publish statistical survey and analysis results concerning the condition, risk and protection of the environment and water management, environment quality, and the economic aspects of the environmental protection, including environmental accounts. Demographic and Labour Market Surveys Department Director Agnieszka ZGIERSKA

Social Surveys and Living Conditions Department Director Piotr ŁYSOŃ Deputy director Małgorzata ŻYRA tel , fax The task of the Social Surveys and Living Conditions Department is to initiate, programme, and conduct surveys, methodological and study work and statistical analyses, and to publish statistical survey and analysis results concerning the quality of life and living conditions, health statistics, education, culture, tourism, sports, social assistance, childcare and family care, the judiciary, social economy and social capital. Trade and Services Department Director Ewa ADACH-STANKIEWICZ Deputy director Agnieszka MATULSKA-BACHURA Deputy director Dorota TUREK tel , fax The task of the Trade and Services Department is to initiate, programme and conduct methodological work, to coordinate surveys and to prepare and publish statistical survey and analysis results concerning trade and catering activity; economic relations with other countries; transport and communications; housing services and municipal infrastructure; business services; retail goods and services prices, import and export prices and producer prices of selected services. Production Department Director Małgorzata KOWALSKA Deputy director Wanda TKACZYK tel , fax The task of the Production Department is to initiate and conduct methodological work, to programme and coordinate statistical surveys, and to prepare and publish the results of these surveys; to carry out statistical problem analyses concerning industrial activity, construction activity, and producer prices in this field, including materials and fuel and energy management, and coordination of work in the area of R&D, innovativeness and information society. 4 carry out surveys concerning the functioning of the sector of non-financial enterprises, and to conduct analyses in the above area, including multidimensional analyses, and preparing studies. Agriculture Department Director Artur ŁĄCZYŃSKI Deputy director Barbara DOMASZEWICZ tel , fax The task of the Agriculture Department is to programme and conduct methodological work, to coordinate surveys and to prepare and publish statistical survey and analysis results concerning: the production resources of agriculture; plant production; animal production; procurement of agricultural and silviculture products; agricultural production balances; the provision of agriculture with the means of production; agricultural and silvicultural production measures; satellite accounts of agriculture and forestry; the food safety at the level of primary production; the state of forest resources, and of silvicultural and hunting economy; prices in agriculture and forestry, including the prices of land; the economic situation of farms; the non-agricultural activity of farms; and services for agriculture. International Cooperation Department Director Olga ŚWIERKOT-STRUŻEWSKA Deputy director Barbara JAROSIŃSKA tel , fax The task of the International Cooperation Department is to organise and coordinate the cooperation of official statistics services within the European Statistical System (ESS), and cooperation with statistical offices outside the EU and with international organisations. Information Department Director Witold WOŹNIAK Deputy director - the Spokesman for the President of the CSO Artur SATORA tel , fax The task of the Information Department is to disseminate, deliver and popularise statistical information, including the ones published on the basis of the legal acts and international obligations; to coordinate activities within the area of information dissemination conducted by statistical offices; to coordinate statistical confidentiality protection related work and to participate in work concerning the use of modern methods of access to statistical information. Finance and Accounting Department Director Małgorzata SOŁTYSZEWSKA tel , fax GUS Chief Accountant Jadwiga NISZCZOTA tel , fax The task of the Finance and Accounting Department is to ensure the completion of the tasks of the main disposer of financial resources, including the financial servicing of the department, the calculation of the survey costs, the financial and accounting servicing of the CSO, including the financial servicing of the tasks co-financed from nonbudgetary resources, and the organisation of public procurement in the CSO. Organisation and Personnel Office
5 Director Katarzyna PISAŃSKA-BOROWSKA tel , fax The task of the Organisation and Personnel Office is to conduct matters within the competencies of the General Director of the Office in the area of ensuring the continuity and organisation of work at the CSO, including the preparation of draft organisational regulations of the CSO and of internal regulations of departments; to organise recruitment for employees to the CSO; to conduct matters in the area of descriptions and evaluation of particular job positions; to coordinate the process of employee evaluation in the CSO, personnel services for the CSO employees; to conduct matters in the area of work discipline; to analyses training needs and initiating training activities within the official statistics department, to conduct work in the field of preparing the programme of human resources management in the CSO; and to conduct statistical education. Administration Office Director Waldemar WŁOSZCZAK Deputy director Piotr KARPOWICZ tel , fax The task of the Administration Office is to conduct matters related to housing management and administration of buildings under the management of the CSO, including technical and economic services, administrative services for the CSO, the register and management of property; to ensure health and safety at work in the CSO; to implement tasks associated with civil defence, fire protection service; and to implement crisis management procedures. Information Security Management Office tel , fax The function of the Information Security Management Office is to coordinate the activities of units within the official statistics services for the protection of statistical data, personal data, confidential information and other information whose confidentiality is protected by law; carrying out activities for the development of official statistics services, including the ICT system; securing legally-protected information within the CSO, including cooperation with the Information Department within actions for the protection of statistical confidentiality; and conducting defence matters and statistical surveys in the field of defence.
