1 Eectronic Circuit Breaker with reset input ESS Description The specia device ESS0-1.. is a further extension of the product ine eectronic circuit breakers. Type ESS0-1.. has a width of ony 1.5 mm and seectivey protects a DC 4 V oads through a combination of active eectronic current imitation and we-proven circuit breaker technoogy incuding physica isoation with manua actuation. The ESS0-1.. can be pugged into the E-T-A power distribution socket Modue 17pus, ensuring ease of instaation and a significant reduction of wiring time. DC 4 V switch-mode power suppies ( A...40 A), which are widey used in automation industry today, wi shut down the output in the event of an overoad with the resut that one fauty oad in the system can ead to compete disconnection of a oads. The ESS0-1.. heps to overcome this probem as it responds to the overoad condition faster than the switch-mode power suppy. The highest possibe overcurrent is imited to 1.8 or 1.5 times rated current. Thus it is possibe to switch on capacitive oads up to µf but they are disconnected ony in the event of an overoad or short circuit. For optima adjustment to the appication conditions the current rating of the ESS0-1.. can be seected in fixed vaues from 0.5 A... A and in switchabe variants 1 A/ A or 3 A/ A. Faiure and status indication are provided by a bicoour LED and an integra short-circuit proof signa output. Upon detection of overoad or short circuit in the oad circuit the MOET of the oad output wi be bocked and current fow in the oad circuit wi be interrupted. MOET and oad circuit may be reset by means of the eectronic reset input or manuay by actuating the push-button (PUSH-PUSH operation). The oad circuit may aso be physicay isoated during start-up of the equipment, e. g. for measuring purposes. Automatic start-up of machinery after shut down must be prevented (Machinery Directive 98/37/EG and EN 004-1).
