1 INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHANGING YOUR WEBSITE BANNER Some schools have several banners created for their websites that they can change during the year. These banners reflect the different seasons or various activities (sports, CTS, school events) that are taking place in the community. The following instructions lead you through the steps to change your banner. 1. Open your website conference in First Class. Look for the School Name WWW Site. In this example, we use Bentley. Open the WWW site conference. 2. Find the SiteImages folder on the left side of your window and open it. Instructions for Changing the Website Banner in RWD Page 1

2 3. You will see several sub folders called various titles such as banner1, banner2 or Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter or other names. 4. If you highlight and open one of these folders and then click the image on the RIGHT you will see HALF of the banner revealing the picture. 3 5. Take note of which folder name you want to use or change to (eg. Banner 1, or Spring) as this will need to spelled exactly the same way it is labeled later in these instructions. 6. Go back to your WWW site conference and look for your.sitepref Open this area. 7. Click on the RWDe tab to reveal several sub tabs. Instructions for Changing the Website Banner in RWD Page 3

4 8. Click on HEADER to review more sub tabs. 9. Look for the BANNER IMAGE tab and click on it. Notice the name of the banner file name as this is the one you will be changing. Change it to the new folder (e.g. change it from Banner1 to Banner2 OR from Winter to Spring) and leave all of the other slashes and information as it is printed. TAKE NOTE! 5 10. Next, click on the Section Format tab and again take note of the name of the banner file name as this is the one you will be changing. Change it to the new folder (e.g. change it from Banner1 to Banner2 OR from Winter to Spring) and leave all of the other slashes and information as it is printed. Take Note 11. Now you have changed the location of where the image will be retrieved from. Whenever you make changes inside the.sitepref area you need to reload config to make the change visible. If you open Internet Explorer to view your website now, you will notice that the banner has NOT changed. You still have steps to complete. Click OK to save changes in the.sitepref area. 12. Open your RWD Web Admin Help conference area from your Wolfnet desktop. 13. Take notice of which server your school s website resides on. There is a NORTH server and a SOUTH server depending on where the school is located. School codes are listed beside each server. BN for Bentley is on the South Server. 6 14. Depending on which Server Monitor you selected you will see one of these icons. OR 15. Double click the South Server OR North Server Icon to open up another window that allows you to reload config. 16. The button is GREEN when the server is working properly. It turns orange or amber when you click Reload Config as it refreshes the server. This takes about 10 seconds to reload and then the button turns GREEN again. Click ReLoad Config only once and wait until the button turns green. Instructions for Changing the Website Banner in RWD Page 6

7 17. Now you have completed the process to change your web banner and reload the changes. Below is an example of a change. If you had your web browser (Internet Explorer) open to view the website before you reloaded config, you can now REFRESH your web browser in Internet Explorer and it should show the new banner.
