1 Guide to Using the AK240 MQS Streaming Server (Macintosh OS X Lion only) Installing & Running the MQS Streaming Server: The AK240 can access music files stored on computer on the same network. 1. Install the MQS Streaming Server by dragging it over to your Applications folder. 2. Navigate your Mac to: Finder > Applications > Double Click MQS Streaming Server.app 1

2 3. Upon stating the first time, the MQS Streaming Server application will automatically search for music files stored in your Mac. The application will look like the screen below upon opening for the first time: 2

3 4. Press the + button or drag & drop your music folders to the MQS Streaming Server s Share tab. NOTE: Single files cannot be added via + button or dragged & dropped to the MQS Streaming Server. 3

4 5. You will now be able to see which folders you have added to the Share tab. The MQS Streaming Server is now sharing these files on your network. 4

5 6. Navigate to the home screen of the AK240 and press the MQS Streaming button: Note: Wi-Fi must be turned on and connected to the same network as The MQS Streaming Server. Please refer to page 42 of the Users Manual for more information on Wi-Fi. 5

6 7. Connect the AK240 to the ID of the MQS Streaming Server. In this case, we want to connect to the MQS Streaming Server named: iriver. 8. Choose a song from your Shared files to begin streaming: 6

7 9. Press & hold a desired song to display options for downloading the song to the AK240. Choose from: [Download OR Selected Download] - Select the appropriate option to download songs. A message on the Notification Bar will indicate a completed download. NOTE: Depending on network conditions, song loading may be slow and music streaming may stutter. MQS Streaming Server response may be slow when the computer is under load. Depending on network conditions and server status, the AK240's performance may be affected simultaneously when streaming and downloading music. Terminating MQS Streaming or stopping the item being downloaded in the Notification Bar of the AK240 will stop all downloads. 7

8 MQS Streaming Server for Mac OS X Lion 10.7: Description of Options: Top Finder Bar Options: 1. Open: Opens the MQS Streaming Server 2. Check for Update: Checks for a new software version of the MQS Streaming Server. 3. Exit: Stops the MQS Streaming Server and exit the program. 8

9 Share Tab: Share Tab: 1. Status Indicator: Displays the current server status. Green - Server is operating properly, but no device is connected. Orange - Server is operating properly, and a device is connected. Gray - Server is disabled 2. Rebuild Library: Updates the library of shared music folders. 3. Restart: Manually restarts the server. 4. Drop Down Menu: Change the list sorting method. 5. Add/Remove music folders: Click + to add music folders to be shared: Folders can be added to the library via drag & drop from the Finder or desktop. Click - to remove music folders already added: Folders can be removed from the library by clicking the appropriate folder and pressing the Delete key. Note: When running, the server detects any changes to the shared folders and automatically updates the library. Any changes made while the server is not running will be applied at the next startup. 9

10 Advanced Tab: 1. Server Port: The port number used by the server. Note: The Port number can be changed in case of overlap with other programs. The server will restart upon confirmation. 2. Server Name: Change the server name to be displayed on the AK Automatically Check for Updates: The program will check for a new version upon launch of the server. Note: Clicking Check for update will manually check for a new version. 4. Start server on system startup: When selected, the server will launch automatically when the computer starts. 10

11 About Tab: 1. Version: Displays the current firmware version of the server. 2. Help: Opens the 'MQS Streaming Server Help Guide in a browser. 11

12 Quick Notes The AK240 MQS Streaming Server application is compatible with Macintosh OS X 10.7 Lion or higher. Please confirm with your Macintosh operating system version before using the MQS Streaming Server The MQS Streaming Server may not function properly if your computer s firewall, network settings, and/or if the operating system blocks the MQS Streaming Server s port settings. Note: If the AK240 and your computer are on the same Wi-Fi network, the last three digits of the computer s IP address & the last three digits on the AK240 s IP address are different. Example: If the IP address of your computer is xxx and the AK240 s IP address is yyy, both AK240 and your computer is on the same network. More information and assistance of the MQS Streaming Server can be found by clicking Help on the About tab. For further information on using the MQS Streaming Server application with your AK240, please refer to pages of the user s manual. 12
