1 Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 An Introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 STM Training Program Center for Teaching and Learning Prepared by: Niranjan Khadka (Instructional Design Assistant)

2 I.WHAT IS MICROSOFT POWERPOINT? Microsoft PowerPoint is a presentation software application that enables us to combine graphics, text, animation and audio together for an interactive presentation. It is a part of the Microsoft Office suite that includes other powerful office tools like MS Word, MS Excel and MS Access. Slide shows created with MS PowerPoint are often used for business, training, or educational presentations. Additionally, the slides can be arranged and printed as handouts for reference. PowerPoint uses a graphical approach to the presentation in the form of slide shows. The last version of PowerPoint is MS PowerPoint 2010 for Windows. II.WHAT IS NEW IN MS POWERPOINT 2010? a. Embed and edit video from within PowerPoint: You can add video effects, formatting effects, bookmark scenes, and trim videos in our presentation slide to give a professional look to your presentation. b. Use new and improved picture editing tools: There are tools like picture editing; allowing you to apply versatile artistic effects and advanced correction, and color to your image. The cropping tool allows you to get rid of unwanted scene from your image and tune every picture in your presentation. Furthermore, 3-D slide transitions and other realistic animation effects can be used to grab your audience s attention. c. Work together more successfully: The new added co-authoring capabilities to edit the same presentation allow you to work with people in different locations at the same time. You can even communicate as you work, directly from PowerPoint d. Access and share your content from more places: You can get things done when and where you need to, from the Web with Microsoft PowerPoint Web App or even from your smartphone with Microsoft PowerPoint Mobile.
