2 2 Ohio Valley Christian Camp provides equal camping opportunities to all, regardless of race, national origin, income, religion, sex, or creed. It also does not practice discrimination against any group in the operation of its camping program. All are welcome and encouraged to participate in our camping program. Camp Location Near Aurora, KY, on KY 402 (formerly KY 80), 2.5 miles west of Aurora or 6 miles east of Hardin. 3 10 Camp Rules Growing In Him 3 1 All faculty members and campers are to abide by the schedule unless excused by the Dean. 2 No one is permitted to leave the camp without the permission of the Dean. 3 The use of tobacco, intoxicants and illicit drugs on the campground is strictly prohibited at all times. 4 All sickness or injury must be reported to the nurse and to the Dean at once. 5 Radios, music players, cell phones, magazines, cards, pets, firearms and fireworks are not allowed. 6 Except for medical reasons, do not bring food, drinks or snacks. If you do bring these, they must stay in the kitchen. 7 Campers are not permitted to ride on any camp vehicle except for scheduled activities. 8 Campers or teen helpers that drive to camp must lock their vehicle and turn the keys over to the Dean. 9 Any camper causing property damage will be held responsible for the cost which will be determined by the camp Dean in cooperation with the camp Board. 10 Any serious or continuous infraction will result in dismissal from camp without any refund. We want you to enjoy yourself by obeying all the rules. Ohio Valley Christian Camp is a place where God changes people s lives forever. We want to see God change more lives to look more like Christ, both in young people and in adults. We want to see His will for our lives revealed. We want to see friendships made that will strengthen and grow. We want to see people experience the real joy and peace that only come from knowing and loving Christ. We pray for all of these things to happen, and we serve Christ with the hope that they will. Our camp program is designed to lead people to faith in Jesus, as well as to strengthen the faith of Christians young and old, equipping and training them to serve Him. We are eager to serve you and your church. Out here, you can retreat from the booming, buzzing confusion of everyday life into 47 acres of cedar, hickory, oak, and walnut trees. From most of the campground, there s not a highway or house in sight, but there is plenty of beauty to be seen along the trails, and comfort to be found in our cabins, which are wellequipped to meet your needs. To God be the glory, great things He has done! We are confident that God will do even greater things here in time. It s His camp, not ours. It has been dedicated to Him through the commitment of his servants. People just like you have partnered with God to work miracles through Ohio Valley Christian Camp! Purpose For Growth This church camping program is designed to help children, youth, and adults grow in their commitment to Jesus Christ. With Christ and the Word of God as the basis for our faith and practice, we achieve this with: Seeking the lost for Jesus Christ. Training Christians for service. Educating Christians about missions. Experiencing Christian fun and fellowship. Making the Bible come alive for today. Other Important Stuff INSURANCE: Each camper is covered by supplemental insurance for illness and injury during the week of camp. VISITORS: You are always welcome to visit, but please don t pull the campers away from their scheduled activities. If you want to eat with the campers, there will be a charge of $3.00 per meal. Make reservations with the cook and pay the camp Dean. LEAVING: We like for our campers to stay for the entire week as interruptions (i.e. leaving and going to outside camp activities) take away from the spirit of the camp week. If a camper must leave, be sure to let the Dean of that week know. MAIL: Receiving mail is a high point of the day for many campers! In fact, except for special situations, campers aren t allowed near the phone, and are usually not allowed to hold on to their cell phones. Our staff can take a message if necessary. 5 8 What To Bring: Bedding: pillow & sheets, blankets, or sleeping bag. Class Items: BIBLE, notebook, pencils. Toilet Articles: soap, washcloth, towels, comb, shampoo, toothbrush and paste, insect repellant. Other Possible Items: writing paper and envelopes, stamps, flashlight, camera, sunscreen, ballglove, musical instrument, sheet music. Do not bring food or drinks. Clothing: Bring clothes to worship in and clothes to play in. Bring a jacket as it may be cool during the evening. Bring a modest swim suit (no two-piece swim apparel for girls). In keeping with the Christian witness, immodest clothing will not be permitted. Include some shoes that are suitable for running/playing (tennis shoes, etc) as well as for pool-side (flip-flops, etc). It s best to label all your items with your name. Dress Code: for all campers and staff. 1 No clothing or patches on clothing with slogans of an unchristian nature printed on them: i.e. beer labels or suggestive implications. 2 Swim Suits should be modest. No bikini or revealing suits allowed. If a suit is questionable, the Dean may require you to wear a long T-shirt or other covering, or may not allow you to swim. 3 Shoes or sandals must be worn at all times other than the pool. Bring a pair of tennis shoes! 4 Girls blouses are to be unrevealing. Shorts should have a minimum 4 inseam. Registration We invite you to this summer s camping program; a setapart time of true fellowship with God and fellow believers. Here are some things you will need to know in order to make your stay as inspiring and enjoyable as possible. Please Pre-Register! If your registration form reaches Tammy one week or more before your camp is to begin, you will receive a free T-shirt from camp. After the pre-registration deadline, a T-shirt will cost $10. Please...if you can register even earlier, that will help our precamp planning. If pre-registration is too low, a camp may be cancelled. On the other hand, camp occupancy is limited by Fire Marshall regulation, and it s first-registered, first-accepted in case the limit is reached. The registration form located in the center of this booklet must be completely filled in and signed by parent. BE SURE TO INCLUDE ANY NECESSARY MEDICAL INFORMATION along with the name of your insurance company and policy number. Each camper will want to bring some extra money for the missionary offering! 5

6 6 Choose the Right Week 2016 Camp Schedule 7 Junior High is for those entering grades 7-9. Intermediate is for those entering grades 4-6. First Chance is for those entering grades 2 & 3. Senior High is not being offered this year. If you cannot make it to the week scheduled for your age group, you may move up or back one grade level with permission from the Dean whose week you wish to attend (see phone numbers next page). Any other variation requires permission also from the Camp Board President, Bill Call, Arrival & Departure Times Registration begins at 4pm on Sunday (except for First Chance Camp which is 4pm Wednesday). When you get here, stop at the dining hall to register and to receive additional information. The cabins will not be open before check-in time at 4pm. The camp week will officially begin at 6pm. The camp week will officially conclude at 5pm on Friday. Note: There will not be an evening meal served on the last day of camp. Recreation begins at 5PM; potluck at 6PM (OVCC supplies BBQ, you bring sides); service at 7PM. All come! Help Wanted! Ask the Lord...to send out workers into his harvest field. (Matthew 9:38). We need parents, church leaders, and older youth to help during a week of camp! If you want to join us, please contact one of the Deans and volunteer. Thanks! Help is also needed in the kitchen and will be welcomed on a day-to-day basis. Just coordinate with the Dean or the cook.
