Ocean County YMCA Friday, November 6 th to Sunday, November 8th, 2015 Ocean County YMCA 1088 W. Whitty Road Toms River, NJ LHY, BRY, MYM, UMLY, OCY The OCY Pool is a twelve-lane, 25 yard, single course pool with nonturbulent lane lines and Colorado timing system with full display board. Ten lanes will be used for competition and one lane will be used for warm up/warm down. The depth of the water at the starting blocks is 9-0 and the depth at the turn end is 4-0. No deck chairs, no strollers, and no coolers are allowed in the facility. No pets are allowed on the deck or in the stands. The competition course has not been certified in accordance with C(4). Note that this statement is a required meet announcement statement, and refers to the pre-certification of the pool length measurement in regards to National and World Record swims which may occur in the pool. The fact that this pool is not certified in accordance to C(4) does not impact on the validity of the times achieved in this pool. Times swum at this meet will in fact be entered in SWIMS and are eligible for qualifying for any other USA Swimming sanctioned competition. Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in changing areas, rest rooms or locker rooms. The purpose of this meet is to have 4 to 5 YMCAs bring their whole team to compete against each other in a fun and healthy environment. 2 Toms River, NJ, MEET MANAGEMENT RESERVES THE RIGHT TO RESTRICT THE NUMBER OF ENTRIES TO MEET USA SWIMMING GUIDELINES FOR MEET AND SESSION DURATIONS. Meet Format Waiver: Meet Requirement Statement: 1000 Free Challenge: Distance Events: (1000 Freestyle) Internet Website Posting: Coaches Eligibility: Officials: All entries will be accepted on a first come basis. The host club must stay within the four hour per session rule required by NJ Swimming. All entries must be either MM or TM entries. It is not necessary to overnight or express mail your hard copy and check which are sent in support of an ed entry. We reserve the right to limit the number of heats in the 1000 Free so the timeline for the meet is manageable. If we do limit any of these events we will contact the teams by November 1st. There will be a limit of 5 heats in the 400 IM and 500 Free events as well as qualifying times for these events only. The host club has the right to change the format of the meet with the approval of the sanctioning chair and either the age-group or senior chairman. These changes would be made for a more efficient swim meet for the swimmers and the host club. Reasons for these changes include: To allow more swimmers to swim. To conform to facility capacity limits or facility safety concerns. To condense the meet into a smaller time frame. Some of the changes that can be made: 1) to change estimated start times, 2) to condense sessions and 3) to limit number of swimmers. The OCY Great Turkey Invitational is a closed (YMCA members only), USA Swimming Approved meet. Hence, times achieved in this meet are eligible for inclusion in SWIMS. However, since this meet is NOT NJ Swimming Sanctioned, it DOESN T count toward participation requirements for NJ Swimming Zone Team eligibility nor for NJ Swimming Athlete Reimbursement from sectional and national level meets. The times of the top 4 girl swimmers and the top 4 boy swimmers from each team (regardless of age events 1, 2 & 3) will be added together. The team with the fastest total time will be the winner of the challenge. Trophies will be awarded to these eight participating swimmers from the winning team. Distance Events will be swum fastest to slowest mixed 1000 Free will be limited to 2 heats, top 20 girls and boys combined. 13 Over Girls and Boys will alternate heats and will be limited to 12 heats, top 60 girls and top 60 boys. Coaches must show coaching card before picking up any meet information or scratch sheets. Coaches must show coaching card for entrance to facility. Coaches must have coaching card visible at all times while on deck. Coaches must have a visible coach s card when entering hospitality area. Participating clubs are requested to provide as many YMCA Swimming 2

3 Swimmer Eligibility: Racing Start Certification Statement: USA-S Deck Change Policy Statement: Meet Format: Meet Schedule: certified officials as possible. Officials working any session of the meet must present their 2015 New Jersey Swimming card (1) to admissions when entering the building and (2) to the Meet Referee on deck; otherwise, admission will be charged and the Official will not be eligible to work the meet. Officials that work are welcome to eat in the hospitality room. We ask that each team provide two officials per session. All swimmers must be listed on a team s official entry form to be eligible to participate in this swim meet in any events including relays. This meet is an invitational and is closed competition for YMCA swimmers only. This meet is for swimmers 9 & Over. There will be entry qualifying times for the 13/Over 400 IM and 500 Freestyle events ONLY! Swimmers will be limited to competing in a maximum of 3 individual events per day, 7 total for the meet. Swimmers may compete in one (1) relay event each day. Age for this meet is calculated as of the 1 st day of the meet. Any swimmer entered in this meet must be certified by a USA Swimming or YMCA member coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. If a swimmer is not accompanied by a USA Swimming or YMCA member coach, then it is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement. Except where venue facilities require otherwise, changing into or out of swimsuits other than in locker rooms or other designated areas is not appropriate and is prohibited. This meet will be run in accordance with current USA Swimming Rules. This meet will be run as a timed finals meet for all events. This meet will be deck seeded with coaches checking in/scratching all swimmers. When the seeding has been posted, swimmers will report to the blocks. Warm-ups will include general warm-up lanes, sprint lanes, and pace lanes. All swimmers are entitled to a fair and comparable warm-up. All teams MUST get the same opportunities for general warm-up lanes, sprint lanes, and pace lanes. All swimmers must enter the pool from the starting end of the pool. Uniformed and designated meet marshals will monitor warm-ups. All general warm-up lanes will swim in a counterclockwise direction. Warm-up schedules will be ed no later than 1 week before the meet and posted at ocytigersharks.org. Entry Times: All entry times must be in short course yards. Check-In: All check-in sheets must be turned into the control table 30 minutes before the start of each session. Swimmers that are swimming will have a line through their name. Swimmers that are being scratched will have their names circled with a SCR next to the circle. Swimmers scratching a single event will have a line through his/her name and the event number circled with SCR next to the circle. Failure to follow this procedure may result in the swimmer(s) being scratched from the session. Relay check-in sheets will be provided to each team. Relay Check-in: The relay sheets with names are due with individual scratch sheets, but changes may be made up until the relay swims. Starts: The host club will determine if overhead starts will be used after a time line has been produced. This information will be ed and posted in the pre-meet information. Scoring: Scoring will be to 16th place. Individual: Relays: Medals will be awarded for 1 st through 3 rd place and ribbons for 4 th through 6 th place. There will be a trophy awarded to the winning team based on NCAA 16 Awards: place scoring guidelines. 13/Over events will be swum together but scored separately as and 15-Over. Trophies will be awarded to the top 4 girls and top 4 boys (regardless of age) on the winning team in the 1000 Free Team Challenge. 4

Special Notice: All entries fees must be paid no later than Session Check-in. If a team fails to make payment by that time all their swimmers may be scratched, at the discretion of the Host Team. The meet entry coordinator will respond to entries within 48 hours. If you do not receive an response within 48 hours, assume that your has not been received. It then becomes the er s responsibility to make sure that the host club's meet entry coordinator receives the e- mail. If you do not receive an response, you must contact the entry coordinator by or phone. An entry summary with a signed NJ Swimming waiver and a check must accompany or follow each entry. Accuracy of seed times is essential. Incomplete entries will not be accepted. Deck entries will not be accepted. No phone or faxed entries will be accepted. Results will be ed to all participating teams within 24 hours of the completion of the meet. Real time results will be available at and on meet mobile. Results will be posted at The host club will all club entries back to the participating clubs that are received via . The host club will provide a time line one week before the meet. The host club will provide one timer in each lane for the entire meet. The host club will create a warm-up schedule that will be fair and equal to all teams. This warm-up schedule will be ed to all participating clubs and posted on the website: no later than 1 week before the meet. The host club will have stop watches available for volunteers helping to time. A hospitality room will be maintained for coaches and officials ONLY. Participating clubs must help with timing assignments. Timing assignments will be proportional to the size of the participating clubs entries they have in each session. Participating club parents must stay off the pool deck except for participating timers or officials. Participating clubs should help with officiating whenever possible. Participating club swimmers will be responsible for providing timers and counters for 1000 free and 500 free events and timers for 400 IM. Refreshments will be available by the entrance. 5

Directions: FROM THE NORTH Take Garden State Parkway South to Exit 89 C-B-A and follow Exit 89 B-A on the left toward NJ 70/Lakehurst/Brick. Merge onto Route 70 West. Take Route 70 West to New Hampshire Avenue South. (To make left turn you must use jug handle to right). Continue 2 ½ miles on New Hampshire. Make right turn at traffic light onto West Whitty Road (just before the Garden State Parkway Overpass). The "Y" will be on the right just past the cemetery. Directions: FROM THE SOUTH Take Garden State Parkway Exit 83 (You will be on Route 9 North). Continue North, West Whitty Road will be the second traffic light. Turn right onto West Whitty Road and the "Y" will be a quarter mile further on the left. FROM THE WEST Take Route 70 East to Route 571 East. (Right Turn onto Route 571). At the Route 9 intersection make left turn to Route 9, West Whitty Road will be the second traffic light. Turn right onto West Whitty Road and the "Y" will be a quarter mile further on the left.
