She also advocates that health care professionals guide the consumer in taking the lead in four types of conversations. Marie-Joelle Khouzam Our Workplaces Have Gone To Pot! This session will provide an overview of medical marijuana and recreational marijuana laws, what issues these laws have created in other states, and what potential passage of such laws may mean for Ohio. We will also discuss what an employer can and should do to ensure a safe workplace, regardless of whether Ohio changes its laws. John Mauro Updates for Audiometric Testing Changes in the OSHA Requirements John Mauro President of The HearSafe Group will discuss a growing concern - How to listen for a lifetime. 6 Our Speakers for Friday, November 6th W. Gary Allread Ergonomics Update There are many exciting advances being made in industrial ergonomics. This presentation will summarize several of these that will be of interest to occupational health nurses as they evaluate and improve employee work activities. These include physical workplace exposures, work organizational issues, and individual factors. Florence Dryden Nursing Update This presentation is an update on current legislation being considered by the Ohio Congress concerning all aspects of nursing. At this time delegation of authority to dispense medications by non-nurse personnel is a major issue. Additionally, the Nursing Licensure Compact is still under consideration. Come learn more about the inspection process and get practical tips on how you can prepare your business when an inspector does show up. If you want to know more about what happens before, during and after an inspection and be better prepared when the time does come, stop by this session. Dr. Mary Townsend OSHA Updates on Occupational Spirometry This talk will summarize recent developments in the area of respiratory health, including both spirometry and respiratory protection. Spirometry developments: 1) The practice of occupational spirometry testing will be impacted by the requirements that NIOSH is developing for clinics that perform spirometry tests on new miners (mandated by MSHA); and 2) The American Thoracic Society published a 2014 Technical Report on Issues in Occupational Spirometry Testing. Respiratory Protection developments: 1) OSHA published a Compliance Directive on Respiratory Protection in July, 2014, that comprehensively concepts in the respiratory protection standard, such as voluntary use of respirators; 2) ANSI/ASSE Z Practices for Respiratory Protection was published in spring of this year - this document makes recommendations on how to meet the requirements of OSHA s 29CFR Respiratory Protection Standard; 3) OSHA published a 2015 "Hospital Respiratory Protection Toolkit"; and 4) The Joint Commission has published 2015 Guidance on "Implementing Hospital Respiratory Protection Programs: Strategies from the Field." The elements of these documents will be reviewed. 6

7 Our Speakers for Saturday, November 7th Peggy Ann Berry, PhD, MSN, COHN-S, SPHR, PLNC Managing Work Conflict Constructively How do you manage difficult work conflicts? This hour long presentation will help you anticipate and prevent destructive conflicts, response to prevent out of control eruptions, and manage disagreements with skill and assurance. Gail Pavliga, PhD Seven Steps For A More Dynamic Personality What is a dynamic personality? Many people think they are dynamic, but what does being dynamic really mean? Dynamic people have been defined as aggressive or noisy or drawing attention to themselves in some way. In reality, this is far from the truth. In this 60 minute presentation, attendees will explore six qualities of a dynamic personality as well as the six opposing qualities that produce stagnation. If you have ever asked the question How can I make a difference in my workplace, home or community? this workshop offers practical and research-based solutions. Todd Guenther Safety R.O.C.K.S. Our Speakers For Additional Classes There s personal satisfaction in getting the job done on time and under budget. However, history has shown it's not always easy to stay focused 100% of the time. As human beings we are competitive by nature; we also have an inherent tendency to take risks, skip steps, cut corners, and invent shortcuts to save a little time or money. Doing so opens doors for the possibility of increased complacency and employee discontent, disaster, lost time, lost customers, reduced profit, and increased expense. What are companies doing to combat these hurdles in the workplace? High-energy and rich with ideas, this inspirational keynote more than educates, it motivates and inspires each participant through a series of interactive and memorable experiences, filled with dynamic stories, laughter, and usable take-aways. Noreen Dimmerling & Karen Speas CPR with AED (AHA) 2 yr. Recertification - BLS/Heartsaver This session will re-certify your CPR with AED card (2yr) through American Heart Association (AHA). Basic Life Support (BLS) and Heartsaver Recertification s are offered during this session. You will be required to watch film and perform skills, BLS (written test).
