2 Minecraft Designers Youth Camp If you love the game Minecraft, but always wanted to design your own characters and buildings for your games this class is for you! Learn the basics of creating 3D models using a new software to design your very own objects, create skins for characters, and import them into your favorite Minecraft games. To access their project at home, students must own a PC/MAC version of Minecraft. Tablet, phone, and game console versions of Minecraft are not compatible. A parent address is required to use 3D modeling software. Students will work in teams for most of the program. Your camp registration fees include a flash drive and YouthCamp@COCC t-shirt. Youth Camp Continue your quest to make the next viral app! Whether you want to move past the basic techniques learned in App Attack or want to jump right in, we are ready for you! All students will choose from a selection of different mobile app types and explore more in-depth programming concepts. Candy Crush, Facebook, and Instagram were all built by people who understand the foundations of design and technology. In this class, learn the basic elements of 2D Game Design. Each day will have a tech challenge and a profile of the female stars of the tech world. Student games will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. 3 Make Your First Video Game Youth Camp If you love playing video games, this is the camp for you! Make your first video game in this one-of-a-kind class that shows you the keys to designing your first 2D game. Conceptualization, play experience, challenge levels, graphics, sounds, and simple coding are just some of the concepts that we ll explore. No prior experience necessary, just a desire to have fun. Student-created games will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Games are only compatible on PC computers; Mac versions can be created after the program for a $15.00 conversion fee. Students will work in teams for most of the program. The breakfast, lunch and dinner camp teaches advanced beginner to intermediate cooking techniques through demonstrations and hands-on activities. Prepare multiple menu items each day while practicing knife skills and safe food handling procedures. Create culinary delights that will be shared at a special celebration buffet for guests on the last day (11:30am-12:30). Students will explore various aircraft and learn how they fly, understand how weather affects flying, and discover careers in aviation. Take a field trip to the airport which includes hands-on experience in helicopter and airplane simulators (Thursday, 9:00am-3:00). 4 Video Game Animation Youth Camp Take your game design to the next level by creating and animating your own character sprites, objects, and backgrounds. Start with a name, develop the character s personality, signature moves, special powers, and a story line. Finish with a fully animated character to be used in future games. Students do not need any prior experience in game design, animation, or sketching. Baking & Pastry Culinary Youth Camp Making a flaky pie crust, the foundation of a great pie, takes practice and guidance from a pro. Learn the secrets of creating a tender crust, as well as a sweet cookie shell for cream pies. Become a pastry artist, as you learn to roll out a pie shell and finish the edges in a decorative style. Find out how to finish your masterpieces with a lattice top and a crumble topping. But the best part of the pie is the filling. Apple, stone fruit, lemon and berry, as well as pastry cream whipped into chocolate or banana cream... many choices to try! Finally, discover the finest secret of all - meringue to top a lemon pie.
