Trade Credit Insurance
credit insurance What it is:... An insurance coverage that protects the business against the risk of non-payment or protracted default of products or services. Coverage can be contracted both for local sales and export sales. Benefits: Protects cash flow against the impact of default and allows your company to reduce its provision for doubtful accounts. Improves credit risk management which is considered to be a good Corporate Governance practice. Intelligent market prospection, based on more precise trade information. Enables your company to make credit sales, without adding excessive risk to your balance sheet. Export and Domestic credit insurance may open new markets to your company.
credit insurance Characteristics Designed for companies operating in the B2B market; Provides alternative structures for the raising of funds from banks and capital markets; Protects the receivables portfolio as a whole; Modular policy, which provides flexibility according to the insurance needs and services of the company; Financial information and monitoring of customers; Policies for utilization of the PROEX through the Bank of Brazil; Maximum credit period of up to 360 days; 12-month policy period; Collection services.
credit insurance Commercial advantages Market expansion: focus on new customers, and reduced risks in new markets. The insurer assesses the financial risk posed by new clients. Management of Risks and Exposure: on-going monitoring of risk level and possibility of increasing sales to existing clients. A more competitive product: enables longer periods and payment profile. Financial advantages Credibility with Banks and Suppliers. Reduced fund raising costs: receivables operations, without the right to recourse off balance sheet; operations in the capital market; utilization of the Insurer s Risk Rating. Reduced Costs: optimization of the costs related to credit and collection activities; tax deductibility; collection process conduced by the Insurer. Protection of Cash Flow and Reduction in the provision for allowance for doubtful accounts.
credit insurance How it works: premium calculation Based on the information provided in the Credit Questionnaire, the Insurers analyze the cost of the policy according to the following aspects: 1. Commercial background; 2. Line of activity; 3. Client base; 4. The Company s Credit and Collection Policy; 5. Effective Loss History for the past few years. Coverages Risks insured: Judicial Recovery Bankruptcy Delayed payment (protracted default). Risks not insured: Sales to Natural Persons Sales to Autonomous Government Agencies Commercial Disputes Cash Sales Sales to Affiliates and Associated Companies.
credit insurance Credit Limits Named Clients: Are individually analyzed by the Insurer, for validation of the limits suggested by the company; Clients with large credit exposures, constant monitoring, and normally result in high severity claims; Percentage of cover: from 80% to 90% of the value of the invoice. Unnamed Clients: These clients are not analyzed individually for definition of credit limits; Percentage of cover: from 50% to 60% of the value of the invoice; Normally result in high frequency claims.
