3 Louisiana Delta Community College is committed to increasing access of affordable, high quality educational opportunities and increasing the awareness of these opportunities by actively recruiting prospective students, thus improving the quality of life for those living in our region. It is the recruitment department s mission to work collaboratively with the regions public and private schools and community organizations both personally and through informational events to provide information and pre-admissions services to the counselors and the prospective students. Our success depends upon the high quality and consistent outreach that we provide to our future student populations and their families. The staff of the Department of Recruiting is dedicated to providing professional, friendly, responsive, knowledgeable and personalized services through personal contact, letters, internet communication, and during on and off-site recruitment activities. Underlying all of the services that the Department of Recruitment provides is the deep value our staff places on courtesy, accessibility and breadth of knowledge, as well as our dedication to ensuring that all of our customers receive caring and individualized attention leading to a successful and rewarding experience at Delta. To further the mission of Louisiana Delta Community College, the Department of Recruitment has set forth the following strategies within the two goals outlined below. 3
4 Recruitment Goal 1- Increase Student Enrollment Activity Strategy Target Timeline Plan for Implementation Budget Participate in regional festivals and parades a. Peach Festival/Parade b. Watermelon Festival c. River Market d. Catfish Festival e. Monroe Christmas Parade f. Winnsboro Christmas Parade g. Ruston Christmas Parade Visit prospective student populations a. Speak at all DeltaLINK classroom locations b. Attend all college and career fair activities c. Speak to Jr. s and Sr. s in each regional high school, public and private d. Meet with parents and parent groups to introduce them to all of our offerings e. Speak with business and industry partners to find prospective student populations within their organizations f. Meet with home schooled students and their parents g. Meet with the WIA and STEP programs to find prospective students Promote and increase awareness of our college in our regional communities To inform and effectively recruit to prospective student populations All populations of learners Junior high up to adults As each festival or parade arises August 1 to July 31 Contact the festival and parade chairman for entry. Contact and schedule all entities through- out the year $ Fuel and recruiting materials $

Prospects from all other areas To work in union with our community partners and continue established relationships thereby informing our students and prospective students of what is available to them for their future success To convey our message about Delta to prospects and to show withdrawn students that we are truly intent on their success. The purpose is to recruit them to become students or to come back to Delta. Junior high to adult prospective and current student populations All prospective and withdrawn students Fall and Spring Semesters August1 to July 31 and to be done weekly for prospects as they come in and monthly for ACT contacts. Withdrawn students will be contacted on a semester basis and DeltaLINK will be contacted right after we receive the contact card information. Follow up contact will be done at least two times within the school year and before registration Attend, organize, plan and host these events All letters and postcard information is written and ready for mailing. As the prospect information comes in from the recruiter, Banner entry is performed and at the appropriate time IT extracts the information into a spreadsheet and the recruitment department preforms a mail merge for address labels and/or addresses can be placed on the letters. ACT information will come in and this information will be extracted and a mail merge performed as well. Letters are to be dispersed with any additional information that the student requests. Withdrawn student information will be obtained by the Director of Retention as well as letter content. Withdrawn student letters will be sent immediately after withdrawal and before registration for the next $ $ (stamps) 5
6 In House Recruitment Events a. Discover Delta b. Senior Day c. Scholar s Day d. DeltaLINK Tour Days To educate our prospective students about our college and increase public awareness. The strategy is also to increase the number of students with higher ACT scores. All prospective students as well as students with ACT scores of 21 and higher Discover Delta is held in November and Senior Day is to be held in the spring. Scholar s Day needs to be planned as it is a new event, preferably by early spring. The DeltaLINK Tour Day will be held each semester. semester. These letters/postcards are sent by the recruitment office. Discover Delta is calendared and preparations made by all campuses. Each Discover Delta event is hosted by all campuses on different days in November. The days are selected by a definite timeframe given so that PR can communicate to the media. The timeframe is deliberate so that area confusion by the communities is minimized. The campus Directors are notified and they select their day in November by the week they are given. Each event is the responsibility of that campus. However, PR is responsible for the advertisement of the event in that area and recruitment is responsible for support services and initial startup and communications. Recruitment is solely responsible for the Monroe campus event except for the advertisement and promotional activity. All Deans and departments are notified of the date and arrangements are made for food, give a ways, informational material to prospects and area and table set up is initiated. Senior Day will be scheduled in the spring with the calendar of events. Campus tours will be arranged and departments will be notified to be able to speak with the seniors. PR and promotional material will be initiated this fall for hand out to the high schools and home school programs. Refreshments and entertainment will be planned by the $
7 Recruitment Department. Scholars Day will be scheduled on the calendar and planned for early spring. All students that sent us their ACT scores and those students in the area high schools that scored a 21 or higher will be sent an invitation. The conference room will be set up and the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor of Academics and Deans will be contacted to make a presentation to the students about their different colleges. Campus tours will be set up as well. DeltaLINK Tour Days will coincide with the classes held at DeltaLINK. On one day per every three months, we will host DeltaLINK students to tour our campus and hear about our program offerings. Recruitment will set up the tours and the conference room. Materials will be distributed and Financial Aid, Recruitment and Student Affairs will talk with them about our offerings. Recruitment will be in correspondence with DeltaLINK to facilitate this initiative. Recruitment Goal II- To obtain concrete data that will define the demographics of our student population and enrollment in order to target hot spots and low yield areas for recruitment. Activity Strategy Target Timeline Plan for Implementation Research historical and IR and current demographics to Recruitment Department define the student population and enrollment patterns To define the characteristics of our students and their enrollment patterns Fall 2013 for prior year and moving forward to research the prior year information each summer thereafter Contact the IR department and set up the parameters to analyze the historical profile of enrollment patterns (i.e. by program, campus and demographic variables) in order to develop targeted recruitment Budget None required 7
8 Develop a historical profile of high school yield rates To determine where our incoming high school students are coming from which will result in understanding our hot spots and low yield areas, thus enabling us to develop targeted recruitment strategies for those low yield areas IR and Recruitment Department Fall 2013 for prior year and moving forward to research the prior year information each summer thereafter strategies. Design a report by campus and as a whole to profile these characteristics. Contact the IR department to calculate the annual number of incoming students per high school per parish and contact the counselors offices to calculate the annual number of graduating seniors in comparison to those we enroll to determine yield averages per high school None Required 8
