3 WHAT IS MIRIADE? Public Institution created in 2007 by the Region Basse Normandie Mission: Support SMEs in their innovations and development projects «MIRIADE BOX» Help SMEs get funding for their innovative projects Coordinate clusters and SME communities Support new industrial sector organization in the region Promote our region and support foreign investors to settle up their business in Normandy

4 Silver Economy in France «Silver economy» is the word used by the governement to define the economy linked to ageing and demographic transition this expression is used by european commission too It is a large and heterogeneous sector that goes from hightech domotics, robotics and telemedicines up mobility, tourisms, nutrition and homecare services Ambition of the Government is to «create a national and regional SE ecosystem» 2 ministers (health and industry) launched a work group in April 2013 involving industrial leaders et national public organizations All the partners adopted a common document in december 2013

5 Basse-Normandie Territory really concerned by this economy Almost 25 % of the inhabitants are over 60 In 2020 figures will evolve like that: 36 % over 60 YO, 14 % dependent people, 21 % dependent people staying at home 13,4 % of families in the region use personal care services (against 10,9 % at national level) = employees (6,4 % at regional scale).

6 SILVER NORMANDIE : calendar Basse-Normandie Region get involved in the organization of the «Silver Economie sector» The regional council appointed MIRIADE to coordinate this process During the month of july 2013 we wrote a presentation of our active companies and organizations for silver economy development. This document was sent to the ministers to higlight our ambition January 2014: the first regional steering committee with the presence of the minister of elderly persons the minister recognized the Basse Normandie as the first «silver region»

9 Coordination of actors and services to regional SMEs SILVER NORMANDIE main objective is to develop the Silver Economy industrial sector and escosystem From the beginning «cluster-thinking method» and launching a economical regional study No need to create a new organisation but it is needed to coordinate and propose new services to SMEs in the framework of an «intercluster»

13 LIVING LAB A Living Lab is a contemporary response to the challenges of innovation. It involves users in the innovation process, from the expression of needs, recognizing their skills as essential to innovation, as well as those of the company or research laboratory.

18 MIRIADE Project management 6 working groups independently organized by activity leaders - bottom-up approach to get an insight of industrial needs they work on the needs of the companies to succeed in this market (questions of marketing, distribution, agreement ) To support this work a call for expression of interest will be launched on in september 17th september 2015: Silver Normandie Day and launch of the «Silver Economy Pack» - Call for interestest
