1 QueBall Manual In this document the steps to install and operate QueBall is outlined. QueBall is a robot approached children and playful adults. Through movements, touch, light and sound it challenges the user in different and varying ways. QueBall is very resistant, but when playing it is not advisable to lift, kick or beat it. QueBall moves best on its own and should not be used as a ball. 1. Charge QueBall Use the included charger to charge QueBall. The charger has 2 settings, 0.9A og 1.8A. The charger must always be set to 0.9A. Don t charge QueBall for more than 4 hours. The charger lights in different colours depending on its state: Blinking green: No QueBall is connected. Red light: QueBall is connected to the charger and is charging. Green light: QueBall is charged and can be removed. 2. Turning QueBall on & off Turn QueBall on and off on the red button. Turn QueBall untill the red button is aligned with the hole in the shell. Use the included umbraco-key to press the button. Other objects can also be used, but it is advised to use the umbraco-key, to prevent anything som being damaged inside the shell. 1

2 3. Setting the language The Apps made to control QueBall are both in english and in danish. By setting the ipod/iphone/ipad to english or danish, the language in the Apps changes accordingly. Change language by pressing: Settings à Generel à Language & Region à ipad Language The following is devided into 2 different Apps. QueBallGames which is an App made by the company behind QueBall. This is from chapter 4. From chapter 7 QueBallApp is presented, this App is made på Blue Ocean Robotics. 2

3 4. Manual to QueBallGames made by Que Innovations. 4.1 Download the App QueBallGames in AppStore. The App is free. Make sure there is an internetconnection. On your home screen press the icon App Store. Search for QueBall and the App should show as first result. The Apps name is QueBallGames and the developer company is Que Innovations Inc. Install the App en. 4.2 If QueBall is turned on and the App is installed, a connection can be established. On your ipod/iphone/ipad log onto QueBalls network: Press the icon Settings on your homescreen. Press Wi-Fi. Wait until a network shows up named QueBall and press it. It can take a while before the network is shown on your device. If this is done corrrectly, your screen will look like picture Now QueBall is turned on, the App is installed and there is a connection between ipod/iphone/ipad and QueBall, now you can open the App: Open the App QueBallGames by pressing the icon. Now press Connect in lower left corner. If the text changes to Connected the App is connected and you can start using it. Se picture 2 and 3. 4 5. Play with QueBall QueBalls App QueBall Games has 6 functions on its startscreen: Emotion: Choose between 3 emotions: Happy, Sad and Angry. QueBall uses movements, lights and sounds to simulate these feelings. By touching QueBall feedback is given. Color Game: With the commando Touch me when I m Green/Blue/Red/Yellow, the user must touch it at the right time. You can also adjust the speed. QueBall Says: With a commando as QueBall says, run fast!, you have to do, what QueBall says. Touch N Go: By choosing between different genres (Classical, Gentle, Lively, Naughty and Nice), QueBall will act this way. If you touch QueBall, additional feedback is given of this type. Color Wheel: With the opportunity to set the color on QueBall, you can create a game around QueBall yourself. You can also control if it should move at the same time or not. Remote Control: With this function you can control QueBall. Begin with slow movements and become a shark to drive around with QueBall. 4

5 6. Troubleshooting 6.1 My ipod/iphone/ipad can not find the network QueBall? Make sure QueBall is turned on, se chapter 2. I section 4.2, make sure to be patient and wait a moment to see if the network QueBall shows up. If the network QueBall does not show up, Turn off and on the Wi-Fi to begin a new search. If the network QueBall still doesn t show up, turn off and on QueBall, restart ipod/iphone/ipad and maybe charge QueBall and try again. 6.2 My ipod/iphone/ipad cannot establish connection to the QueBall network? If your device wont establish the connection to the network QueBall, you can try these things: Turn off and on the Wifi to begin a new search and press the network QueBall to establish connection. If the network QueBall still won t establish connection, turn off and on QueBall, restart ipod/iphone/ipad and maybe charge QueBall and try again. 6.3 The App QueBallGames wont establish connection to QueBall? If the App QueBallGames wont establish a connection to QueBall, you can try these things: Close the App and open it again. Press the button Connect in lower left corner. The App should now be connected to QueBall, optionally you can se picture 3 under section 4.3. If this is not working: Jump back to section 4.2 and make sure to turn off and on the Wifi. 6.4 The App QueBallGames is no longer connected to QueBall? If the App has been connection to QueBall and subsequently lost the connection, you can try different things to connect again: Close the App and open it again. Press the button Connect in lower left corner. The App should now be connected to QueBall again, optionally you can se picture 3 under section 4.3. If this is not working: Jump back to section 4.2 and make sure to turn off and on the Wifi. 5

6 6.5 The App QueBallGames stops caused by the ipod/iphone/ipad logs onto another network. It can happen, that QueBallGames stops because your device logs off the QueBall network. This causes the App not to be able to communicate with QueBall. This problem can be helped by the following: Go into Settings. Find Wi-Fi. Find the network, that the ipod/iphone/ipad logs onto instead of QueBalls network. Press the small i button which is showed with a red arrow on the picture. Then press Forget This Network. 8 8. Play with QueBall In the App QueBallApp you can choose between 4 different games on the homescreen: QueBall says: Through commands the children have to follow the instructions of QueBall. Instructions are presented in the bottom of the screen. See picture 7. Number game addition: By pressing the equations, QueBall asks the children and presents different solutions. If the children touch QueBall at the right answer, a winner sound is played. Memory game: QueBall has 4 touch sensitive sensors. QueBall shows with light which sensor should be touched in the right order. Guess a feeling/mood: QueBall playes music and sounds that symbolize feelings and moods. 9 9. Troubleshooting 9.1 My ipod/iphone/ipad cannot find the network QueBall? Make sure QueBall is turned on, se chapter 2.
