Drive through Gamla Stan, Stockholm's medieval Old Town, and past the Royal Palace, the massive 608-room building which still serves as a work place for Sweden's King and Queen. Continuing along the waterfront, down Strandvägen, a stately street lined with foreign embassies and the beautiful Royal Dramatic Theater, you will come upon the island of Djurgården. Ironically, in 1628 it sunk to the bottom of the harbor on its maiden voyage, where it remained until being salvaged 333 years later. 4 Day 2: Friday, August 01 STO SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL IN DENMARK OVERNIGHT The annual Shakespeare Festival is held every summer in the courtyard at Kronberg Castle (aka Hamlet s Castle). With performances taking place at the open air theater venue (right in the middle of the fantastic world Heritage castle), the audience can experience SHAKESPEARE like nowhere else. Depart Stockholm bright and early for the beautiful city of Copenhagen. Meet your coach and English speaking assistant at the pier and depart for the airport. Board your SAS flight bound for CPH. Upon arrival, transfer to the Hotel Danmark to drop off your luggage and begin a 3-hour guided bike tour of the city. The city of Copenhagen has more than 300 km of bicycle lanes and residents travel an average of 1.2 million km on bicycle every day. Experience daily life in Copenhagen and meet the Danes in their natural habitat, riding a bicycle through the city streets. A refreshment stop is included on the route. Amongst their many other achievements, the farmers were responsible for introducing the carrot to Denmark. Head to the outskirts of Stockholm to an area called Marvikarna. Marvikarna is made up of a series of waterways in a wilderness area with little settlement. The Trosa River, Lake Herring, Frösjön, and Klämmingen, as well as three Marviken lakes (Upper, Middle and Lower Marviken) and Lake Visnaren are part of this wilderness area. Later in his life, Alfred Nobel had the idea of ideas, the Nobel Prize. Take this tour and get to know Stockholm through the eyes of Alfred Nobel.
