You will find information and styleguides on applications as well as downloads of the symbol/ logotype, typefaces, and master files in the Bosch CD Extranet at Contact Please contact the following persons if you have any questions concerning the Bosch Corporate Design: The specifications are binding for all design applications of the Bosch brand. You can make your contribution to a globally strong, uniform Bosch brand identity by applying the specifi cations in this styleguide systematically. 5 Symbol/Logotype General Page 5 General The symbol/logotype consists of the Bosch armature symbol and the Bosch logotype. When reproduced in the specified size and spacing proportions, the symbol/logotype form an entity that represents the Bosch company. The symbol/logotype may only be used in the specified proportions. Please use only the master files provided in the CD Extranet. Symbol 3 9 Logotype 2 Symbol and logotype form a unit. Exceptions to this rule only apply to product identification and packaging. Please refer to the relevant styleguide for more details. Do not change the proportions and the spacing between the symbol and the logotype. The symbol and the logotype may not be used separately for decorative or design purposes. The symbol/logotype is always positioned on the right. Exceptions: languages read from right to left or on exhibition booths (visibility). No other product, project, departmental or event logos may be positioned next to the symbol/logotype. Exceptions: product/service logos that are long-established in the market (at least five years) and have a high awareness level among the target group (50% and more). 6 Symbol/Logotype Versions Page 6 Versions To ensure a consistent corporate design, the 4-color version of the Bosch symbol/logotype should be used whenever possible. A grayscale version is availabe for black and white applications. 4 C (4-color) and 2 C (black and red) Grayscale version The line version is used in all applications where a 3-dimensional reproduction of the symbol is not possible for production reasons (e.g. silk-screen and pad printing). The symbol/logotype may only be used in the specified Version for 2 C newspaper printing (black and red) Line version, black versions. The symbol/logotype colors are defined and may not be changed. Master files are available in the Bosch CD Extranet for all versions. Special specifications apply to building identification applications. Please refer to the relevant styleguides. 7 Symbol/Logotype Dimensions Page 7 Size of symbol/logotype (logotype width): 72 mm Original file reduced to: 72 % Dimensions The reproduction sizes of the symbol/logotype are designed to fit the typical Bosch layout grid measuring 4.8 mm (see also the section entitled Layout Grid ). The decisive factor is the width of the logotype. For this reason, all symbol/logotype sizes always refer to this width. 72 mm The symbol/logotype files are each created in a width of 100 mm and are therefore easy to scale. A symbol/logotype with a size of 38.4 mm, for example, is equivalent to an actual size of 38.4 %. Size of symbol/logotype (width of logotype): 38.4 mm Original file reduced to: 38.4 % The size specifications of the symbol/logotype refer to the width of the logotype. 8 Symbol/Logotype Size Versions Page 8 The Right Version for Every Size Large from 67.2 mm in enlargement incre ments of 4.8 mm relative to the width of the logotype 67.2 mm The symbol/logotype is available in three size versions to ensure optimized reproduction in all application sizes: small (S), medium (M), and large (L). In the small version of the symbol, the inner spaces have been slightly enlarged to prevent them from filling in when used in small reproductions. At the same time the line thicknesses in all versions have been modified corresponding to the application sizes. If the wrong version is Medium from 48 mm to 62.4 mm in enlargement incre ments of 4.8 mm relative to the width of the logotype 62.4 mm used (referred to the output size), the result will be an imperfect reproduction of the symbol/logotype. In the line version, there are only two size versions for the symbol/logotype: S and M. The M version is infinitely enlargeable. The symbol/logotype is scaled in increments of 4.8 mm (one grid unit). See also the section entitled Layout 48 mm Grid. Always use the correct version of the symbol/logotype depending on the output size. Small from 24 mm to 43.2 mm in enlargement incre ments of 4.8 mm relative to the width of the logotype 43.2 mm The size specifications of the symbol/logotype refer to the width of the logotype. Do not use the 3-dimensional symbol/logotype below the minimum of 21.6 mm. Use the line version of the symbol/logotype instead. 9 Symbol/Logotype Reproduction Sizes Page 9 DIN A % Variant: L 67.2 mm Reproduction Sizes The reproduction sizes of the symbol/logotype are defined separately for each of the applications (e.g. advertisements, sales promotion and advertising materials, vehicle identification) to achieve the desired effect for the particular medium. You will find these, as well as other size specifications, e.g. for special formats, in the styleguides for each application. DIN A3 48 % Variant: M The standard sizes for DIN formats listed here apply to applications with no separate reproduction-size definitions. 48 mm DIN A % Variant: S 33.6 mm Some applications have special reproduction sizes. 12 Symbol/Logotype Slogan Standard Position Page 12 Symbol/Logotype with Slogan Standard Position The slogan Invented for life is used in advertising communications in combination with the symbol/logotype (cf. Applications page 16). H The standard position of the slogan is below the symbol/ logotype. It is positioned flush left and right with the Bosch logotype and placed underneath it at a spacing of one slogan cap height. Typeface: Bosch Sans Regular. In certain cases where the slogan is very long (e.g. French, Spanish) it is positioned flush left and right with the entire symbol/logotype. Example with English slogan Standard position: Slogan is set to the width of the logotype. Exception: Slogan is set to the entire width of the symbol/logotype. The slogan is binding for all Bosch divisions and regions worldwide in each of the national languages (overview and exceptions cf. pages 1415). It is prohibited to use other slogans or other texts below the slogan/logotype. Master files are available in the Bosch CD Extranet for all language versions. The slogan is positioned centrally, with a minimum spacing of one horizontal H, to the left of the symbol/logotype. The cap height of the slogan corresponds to the inside height of the Bosch logotype. Please refer to the relevant styleguides for the individual applications for more details. Use of the English Slogan Romanian Serbian (Latin) Russian Slovak Serbian (Cyrillic) Slovenian The English slogan is used in Australia, Belize, United Kingdom, Grenada, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Jamaica, Malta, New Zealand, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, St. Vincent, Trinidad and Tobago, the United States as well as in the English-speaking part of Canada and in the Scan dinavian countries, i.e. Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. Special Arrangement for the Japanese Slogan The Japanese slogan is used for addressing the general Spanish Thai Turkish public as well as target groups of the business sectors consumer goods, building technology, and industrial technology. For communication in advertising for decisionmakers of original equipment automotive technology, the English slogan is used. Turkmen Ukrainian Uzbek Special Arrangement for Dubai In Dubai the English slogan is used. Use of the Symbol/Logotype for Two- or Multi-language Applications For two-language applications the symbol/logotype can be used with the slogan in the main language. In exceptional cases it will be used without the slogan. For multilingual applications, the symbol/logotype can be used with the slogan in the main language. The symbol is separated from the logotype by the word Service ; all elements are arranged below one another. The trademark was confirmed in 2008 in an extensive market research study among the target groups of workshop owners and final customers. If a future CD alignment is planned, the combined symbol/logotype must in this case be given consideration. 21 Corporate Typefaces Overview Page 21 Bosch Sans Light, Italic Bosch Sans Regular, Italic Bosch Sans Medium, Italic Bosch Sans Bold, Italic Bosch Sans Black, Italic Bosch Sans Condensed Regular, Italic Bosch Sans Condensed Bold, Italic Bosch Serif Book, Italic Bosch Serif Regular, Italic Bosch Serif Bold, Italic Overview Bosch Sans and Bosch Serif are unique corporate typefaces which were designed exclusively for Bosch. The interrelated weights meet all the requirements of modern typefaces used in analog and digital environments. Bosch Sans is generally used for headlines and short texts. Bosch Sans Condensed is used where there is not much space. Bosch Serif is available for long, contiguous reading texts. For electronic presentations in Microsoft Word and Power- Point, Bosch Office Sans was developed. It is available for all European languages with the exception of the Greek and Cyrillic alphabets. Bosch Sans is used for shorter running texts, headlines and subheadings. Bosch Sans Condensed is used for example for tables, catalogs and product cards. Bosch Serif is used for long, contiguous reading texts and representative publications. The Bosch type family is available for a wide range of Latin-based alphabets, Greek and Cyrillic as well as Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters. For information about typographic rules in texts please refer to the Text and Typography styleguide. Bosch corporate typefaces may only be used by the Bosch Group. Running Text Running text uses Bosch Sans Regular or Bosch Serif as the standard typeface in 9 pt with a line spacing of 4.8 mm. Emphasis and subheadlines are set in Bosch Sans Bold. Marginal text and captions use Bosch Sans Regular/Medium in 7.7 pt with a line spacing of 3.84 mm. All texts are set flush left, ragged right. One exception is advertisements and newsletters where running text is justified. In general, running text is set in upper and lower case. This also applies to the name Bosch in texts. Bosch Sans In brochures, product catalogs and technical documentation, running text is set in Bosch Sans Regular. These motifs are interpreted in different ways by all Bosch divisions and characterize the Bosch Corporate Design. The typical Bosch imagery style conveys authenticity as a result of very natural and integrated style. The images are mainly bright and friendly, and light control is natural. The impression of authenticity is supported by contrast between focus/out of focus and a strong perception of depth. The color appeal is natural and characterized by a high white component. Interesting perspectives can give images an additional dynamic impression. Artificially illuminated or colored environments and backgrounds do not correspond to the Bosch imagery style.
