It is the city s largest shopping centre and Norway s second largest in terms of sales. For the last three years the centre has won the award for the best shopping centre in Bergen. In combination with the various establishments in Laguneparken, the centre has developed into a popular shopping area for people in Bergen and Hordaland, as well as visitors and tourists. 30,000 people visit the centre every week. The new Bergen Light Rail system opened in June 203 and its terminus is integrated into the centre. In 2002 Lagunen Storsenter completed a major expansion that provided 40 new tenants representing all kinds of sectors. Few shopping centres can match the diversity and breadth offered by Lagunen, and with over 50 fashion stores, the centre is decidedly the largest fashion house in the Bergen region. 14 Norway s 3rd largest shopping centre is outside of Ålesund. AMFI Moa AMFI Moa is located in Spjelkavik outside of Ålesund. With 00,000 sqm and 70 stores, this is indisputably the largest shopping centre in Central Norway and the 3rd largest in Norway. In 202 it had 6 million visitors. The centre comprises the three buildings, Moa North, Moa East, and Moa South. North and South are currently connected by a footbridge. AMFI Moa discovered early the value of developing and exploiting the potential of an effective customer club, and with almost 30,000 members (2/3 of the population of Ålesund) it is almost certainly the centre that has made the most progress in this field in Norway. The centre also has around 20,000 followers on Facebook and uses social media to convey messages and communicate with its customers. AMFI Moa has extensive reconstruction and development plans, including a new footbridge to connect Moa East with the rest of the buildings. 16 Kvadrat is located in Sandnes, just outside of Norway s oil capital, Stavanger. Kvadrat Kvadrat is located in Sandnes and is one of Norway s largest shopping centres in terms of both sales and area. The centre has been rebuilt and modernised several times since opening in 984, and has built up a unique position that extends far beyond the immediate area of Sandnes/Sola/the Stavanger region. A particular area of strength for the centre is clothing and shoes: of 55 stores, 66 are within this sector. Kvadrat also differs somewhat from competing shopping centres because its clientèle is more focussed on new products, range, and branded goods, than on sale items. Kvadrat is in the process of an upgrade to its entrance that will provide 2,000 sqm of new retail space when completed in 204. In addition, a refurbishment and expansion totalling 5,000 sqm on the centre s north part is planned and should be completed in time for Christmas shopping in 205.
