Whether it is the need for specific flight times or groups flying from different destinations or indeed you may wish to book your own flight, then there is no problem, we will try to help. 6 Your holiday in detail Flights/Self Drive: Hillwood will arrange flights from UK airports servicing Salzburg or Munich or we can book your Channel crossing. If you prefer to book your own flights direct or with Airmiles, then we can remove this element from our package. Transfers: Dependant on the airport you travel to, transfer times vary, Salzburg is the closest airport with a transfer time of approximately an hour. Hillwood s policy is to whisk you off to the resort as soon as possible, however, if you wish to have an exclusive transfer then this can be arranged. Accommodation: Our hotels offer a range of room styles, varying from double, to family rooms with dividers or interconnecting doors, to small and large suites, so call us early to get the best choice. Our hotels offer extra facilities which include fitness centres, wellbeing areas, swimming pools, bars, cafes, excellent cellars, bowling alleys and children s play areas. In-Resort: Our in-resort staff are there to help you with your holiday, we are happy to help with ski hire to ensure those boots are comfortable! We collect your lift passes, guide you through ski school and show you the slopes. Our childcare is available all day for the little ones, with a lunchtime and after ski school service for the older children, then a full evening programme for those with energy left at the end of the day. Financial Protection Your holiday with Ski Hillwood is fully protected: For holidays with a flight element included you are covered through our license with the Civil Aviation Authority, Atol No: Details can be found on For holidays without the flight element, you are protected through our Travel Trust Fund. 5

7 Insurance Insurance is essential for any holiday and specialist insurance is required for ski holidays. Please check you have the correct insurance cover especially if you have an annual policy. If you do require holiday insurance, Global Travel Insurance offer excellent policies and good service. There is a hyperlink through our website. To contact them direct call or Holiday Dates Travelling with school age children can restrict your choice of timing. The February half term holidays can be very busy so why not consider a Christmas or Easter break. Our resort of Zauchensee offers skiing from early December until late April. Christmas offers a magical time and Hillwood has some special surprises! Easter is a quieter time to ski and with the longer warmer days your ski holiday will be even more relaxing. At Easter traditionally the lift company offers special discounts. It s a great chance to enjoy the late season and the spring snow. 6

This facility is for Hillwood clients only and is run by Hillwood staff. Hillwood s philosophy of treating everyone as an individual is reflected in our childcare programme. Parents can feel confident that our team s top priority is the happiness and safety of your child. Fun in the Mountains Ski holidays are all about having fun for adults and children alike. Family ski holidays allow everyone the independence of having fun at different levels, so no matter the age group, we feel it is important that children get outside and enjoy the experience of being in the mountains. With our many years of experience in entertaining and caring for our younger guests we have developed a programme which suits the different age groups. Crèche Hillwood s childcare service operates from Sunday Friday and is for Hillwood clients only. The daytime programme is for the young ones from 6 weeks to 3 years, running from 9.30am 4.30pm and is staffed by our own experienced childcare staff working with a maximum ratio of 1:3. The little ones are entertained throughout the day both indoors and outdoors. 7

9 Ski School and After Ski School Pick Up For the budding downhill champions or those wishing to brush up their technique, the ski school offers a fun filled day. Teaching techniques have changed over the years and children are taught in a far more relaxed fun style. They are soon whizzing around the mountain and the only problem then is, keeping up with them! The ski school offers morning and afternoon lessons for junior or beginner adult skiers and half day lessons for snowboarders or the very young guests and adult intermediate skiers. Hillwood offer a lunchtime service as well as after ski school pick up, leaving you free to enjoy your skiing. Meals With our fun packed day appetites grow. Hillwood staff can meet your children at lunchtime and look after them during this break, lunch is a set menu and served at the hotel Zauchenseehof. Evening meals are served at your hotel and are available from 6.30pm. If baby food or formulas need heating, the hotels are happy to do this but it is advisable to try and avoid busy meal times. If your child has any dietary requirements please inform Hillwood prior to departure. Travelling with young ones is easy with us. Evening Clubs Everyone enjoys the company of their contemporaries and the same is true of children, Hillwood s evening club gives children a chance to have fun while parents can enjoy a quiet evening meal. Hillwood arrange a programme of evening events that include scavenger hunts, bowling, skating, quiz nights, to bogganing, games and DVD nights. The activity programme varies and depends on numbers, age groups and weather conditions. Babysitting Our staff offer a babysitting service which is arranged and charged for in the resort. 8

11 Tucked away at the end of a valley this resort opens up to a renowned ski area that boasts many ski champions. From Zauchensee itself there is Austrian Olympic Silver Medallist, Michael Walchhofer. Herman Mayer and Anna Maria Moser-Proll come from nearby resorts. Zauchensee at 1350m is the jewel in the crown for the Ski Amadé system, it is a satellite area to the main town of Altenmarkt and rises to 2188m. The hotels are of a very high standard and offer ski in ski out, usually from December to late April. breathtaking vista, as is the nearby resort of Shladming. With access into such a vast area there is no shortage of skiing. Although Zauchensee is comprised mainly of hotels, there are restaurants, bars and shops dedicated to ski equipment and essential items. If you would like a shopping trip then Altenmarkt can be accessed by the free bus service. On some evenings the hotels arrange nighttime activities - a favourite is the night snow shoe walking. Hillwood highly recommend s this resort and has centred it s programme here as it offers an ideal environment for all skiers. The Ski Amadé system offers a wide variety of pistes, Zauchensee has the wide open slopes that dip in and out of the tree line, plus the ladies downhill course to try your skills on. Flauchauwinkl has long runs and you can test your speed on a slalom run or a timed course, then move on to Kleinarl. Just a short drive away is the Dachstein glacier with its 10

12 Skiing and Ski School Unlike many resorts where beginners are restricted to staying in the village, Zauchensee s wide open blue runs wind though the trees offering excellent variety. The long runs provide you with plenty of skiing before having to take a lift back up.

13 The excellent ski school, run by Peter Walchhofer, gets any beginner off to a flying start. Both children and adults will be tackling challenging runs by the end of the week. Lessons for the children span four hours and are broken into 2½ hours in the morning with a shorter session of 1½ hours in the afternoon. There are taster sessions available for the very young, and when appropriate, morning only. Adult beginner classes follow the same pattern as the children s class but adult intermediate classes are mornings only. Snowboard lessons are half day only and private lessons can be booked in hourly slots. The magnificent three peaks beckon the skier upwards and offer varied terrain. The Zauchensee lifts fan out either side of the valley offering long blue, reds and black runs and numerous off-piste opportunities. An eight man gondola opposite the Hotel Zauchenseehof whisks you up into the system and allows access to all the other lifts without having to walk anywhere. A day s tour is easily accessible as you drop over the back and down into Flachauwinkl. The well-groomed pistes are long and serviced by fast-moving lifts altogether making this an excellent area. Off-piste skiers will have fun on many trails and the moguled black runs will make the legs burn. Skiers can enjoy the women s downhill course, but perhaps not at the speed the racers ski it! 12

14 Crèche Hillwood s crèche located in the Hotel Zauchensee, entertains our young guests from the age of 6 weeks to 3 years old and is operated by our experienced childcare representatives. Our staff organise the day around indoor and outdoor activities so our young guests have plenty to keep them occupied and stimulated. Outdoor activities include walks, trips on the gondola to see the mountains, and fun in the snow, which includes snowman making, tobogganing and maybe, for those more boisterous, a snowball competition! All are carefully supervised under the watchful eyes of our fun loving, caring staff. Indoor fun includes play and craft activities. Our rooms are well equipped with a wide range of toys and materials to suit all ages. These range from drawing, colouring, model making, weather watch charts, hats and masks, to name but a few. For the quieter times, there is storytime and DVDs. 13

15 Meals and lunchtime supervision With our fun-packed day appetites grow. If needed, lunch is provided by Hillwood at a small cost. Whether your child is with us all day or joins us during the ski school lunch break, we make this a social occasion. A two course lunch, including drinks, is specially prepared by the Hotel Zauchenseehof. Evening meals are served at the hotel and are served from 6.30pm. If baby food or formulas need heating, the hotels are happy to do this but it is advisable to try and avoid busy meal times. For babies it is advisable to take your preferred formula milk as many British brands are not available in the resort. Rather than packing bulky items like nappies, Hillwood offer the service of supplying nappies in the resort, just phone through your requirements. Evening Clubs Children who have lots of energy left at the end of the day can join our Après club where our team will be on hand with a variety of activities. The Club runs from pm, Sunday to Friday. Baby Sitting If you require babysitting our team is available most nights of the week after the evening club (except 31st December). This service is booked directly with the resort staff. Baby listeners are available in the resort so you can keep an ear out for your sleeping child. If you would like a baby listener please let us know. Ski School Pick Up Our daily lives seem ruled by the clock, so if your children are in ski school and you would like a relaxed day where time is not an issue, then our team will collect your youngster from ski school and look after them until 4.30pm. 14

16 Hotels Zauchenseehof As a family run hotel, the Walchhofer family understand the needs of catering for families. They have achieved the perfect balance of a wonderful atmosphere where you can relax with your children yet retaining total professionalism. The hotel could not be more conveniently located opposite the lift and ski hire shop, with the ski school meeting place just outside the ski room door. The Schnee Lochl, a coffee and snack bar, is next to the ski room. It has a sun terrace that commands a good view of the piste and is open all day. The hotel rooms are well appointed with excellent facilities, including cable TV, Wifi, safe and hair dryers. The main pool complex is a wonderful area to sit and relax looking up onto the slopes whilst the dedicated separate children s pool offers fun. The bars are located within the hotel as is the bowling alley. The music/dance bar is conveniently located out of ear shot of the rooms. We are confident your stay here will be enjoyable. 15

The upper floor houses the Wellness Room where you can relax in a conducive atmosphere on the comfortable recliners overlooking the slopes. A separate area on this floor is devoted to the fitness room and massage area. You will truly feel in another world. The hotel is located at the base of the slopes with easy access to all the lifts. The hardest decision of the day will be which lift to take in the morning to start your day, and at the end of the day you can ski down to the hotel. Enjoy a relaxing meal in the hotel s restaurant where once a week they serve a Gala Meal. Sebastien, your host, is a Sommelier so will be more than happy to discuss your preferred wine to compliment your meals. 26 25 Booking Conditions 1. The terms set out in the booking form, together with these Conditions, constitute the contract between Hillwood and the person who signs the booking form, or who makes payment to Hillwood ( the Traveller ). There are no other terms and conditions relating to any booking other than those contained herein and on the booking form. Bookings are only accepted subjected to these Conditions. 2. No booking shall be accepted unless the relevant booking form received is accompanied by a deposit of 125 per person and the relevant insurance premium. Holiday bookings which include a flight element are fully protected under our CAA ATOL number 2190, all other holidays which do not have a flight element are protected under our Trust account. Any monies paid to an agent acting on our behalf will be deemed to have been paid direct to us. 3. The Traveller hereby confirms that each member of his/her group has given permission for the traveller to act for and on his/her behalf in all matters concerned. Each member of the group is subject to these conditions and will be deemed to have accepted them. 4. Payment must be made in full 8 weeks before departure date; or in the event of tours being booked within this period then immediately on receipt of the Company s acceptance. 5. All cancellations must be made in writing received at the Company s offices. In the event of cancellation by the Traveller (on behalf of himself or any member of his group) the Company shall be entitled to deduct a fee for cancellation as follows: Where notice of cancellation is received by the Company within: 8 weeks of departure 30% of invoice total 6 weeks or less of departure date 45% of invoice total 4 weeks or less of departure date 70% of invoice total 2 weeks or less of departure date 100% of invoice total for each person whose tour is cancelled. 6. If for any reason the whole or part of the tour is cancelled at any time by the Company the liability of the Company shall be limited to the return of the amount paid by the Traveller (less the cost of any services provided by the Company). Should the required number not book for any tour any money paid shall be refunded less expenses, and the Company shall have no further or other liability. Please make sure you read these conditions carefully 7. Unfortunately it is not possible for us to accurately predict changes to certain costs which may occur in the time between the publication of this brochure and your holiday departure date. Provided all balances are paid by the due date we promise to absorb the first 3% of any adverse currency movement which may have occurred between the date of your booking and the departure date of your holiday. Only Government action or changes in VAT or taxes can affect this firm promise. Because of this guarantee we are not able to make refunds arising from favourable currency movements or other cost reductions. For current prices please refer to our web-site 8. The Traveller must secure adequate medical insurance, unless this is already included in the holiday package. Most of the hotels, apartments and transport services are provided by independent contractors, we do not restrict our liability to you for loss of or damage sustained by you to that caused by the negligence of our employees or agents. However we do not accept liability for the actions or omissions of those involved in your holiday arrangements over whom we have no direct control and who are not employed by us as our employees or agents, but will give such reasonable help as we can in resolving any dispute you may have. 9. All bookings are accepted subject to the conditions of contract of the various persons, firms or corporations who are engaged directly or indirectly in arranging or providing carriage, conveyance, transport, travel accommodation, meal or other service or part of the tour or holiday for the Traveller or any member of his group or in connection with arrangements made by the Company on behalf of any such person. All rights, exemptions from liability defences and immunities of whatsoever nature referred to in the conditions of contract of such persons, firms, corporations shall inure also for the benefit of the Company, its servants, agents, and independent contractors and servants and agents of such independent contractors. The carriers concerned assume no responsibility for the contents of this brochure. 10. Any in-resort payments made to Ski Hillwood are converted to sterling at the prevailing Ski Hillwood resort rate advised by our representative. 11. This contract shall be governed by and construed and interpreted in accordance with English law.

In the event of the failure of the Traveller or member of his group to comply with the law of any Countries visited on a tour under this contract which might render any person present on such tour liable to deportation the Traveller or such member will be liable to exclusion from the tour and the Company shall not be liable to such person for any refund, repayment or damages. 13. No servant or agent of the Company has the authority to vary conditions. Nor has any person the right to make any representation on behalf of the Company unless written and signed by a Director or person authorised by him. 14. The decisions and authority of the company s representatives are at all times to be complied with. 15. Information in the Company brochure is correct to the best of the Company s knowledge but the Company accepts no liability for any inaccuracies therein. 16. At the Company s discretion itineraries may be changed and due note will be given to those Travellers whose bookings are affected. 17. If, in the event of adverse weather, flooding, strikes, war, etc, or other events beyond its control, the Company finds it impossible to continue or necessary to change the route of any tour the loss or expenses occasioned thereby must be borne by the Traveller. 18. If the Company or its servants shall consider any Traveller or member of his group unsuitable for the tour it has the right to cancel any bookings or decline or cease to carry such person without notice being given. Children attending childcare facilities must be in good health throughout their stay. 19. Travellers and members of their groups must comply with Customs and foreign exchange restrictions of the visited countries. Any contravention detected at any frontier or by the Company shall entitle the Company to require the person in question to leave the tour without any right to any refund or repayment. Financial Protection The air holidays in this brochure are ATOL protected, since we hold an Air Travel Organiser s Licence granted by the Civil Aviation Authority. Our ATOL number is ATOL2190. In the unlikely event of our insolvency, the CAA will ensure that you are not stranded abroad and will arrange to refund any money you have paid to us for an advance booking. For further information, visit the ATOL website at For non-flight inclusive holidays your money is protected under our Travel Trust Fund where your money is deposited and not released back to us until after your holiday has been completed, or to be returned to you in the unlikely event of our insolvency. Your Financial Protection When you buy an ATOL protected flight or flight inclusive holiday from us you will receive an ATOL Certificate. This lists what is financially protected, where you can get information on what this means for you and who to contact if things go wrong. We, or the suppliers identified on your ATOL Certificate, will provide you with the services listed on the ATOL Certificate (or a suitable alternative). In some cases, where neither we nor the supplier are able to do so for reasons of insolvency, an alternative ATOL holder may provide you with the services you have bought or a suitable alternative (at no extra cost to you). You agree to accept that in those circumstances the alternative ATOL holder will perform those obligations and you agree to pay any money outstanding to be paid by you under your contract to that alternative ATOL holder. However, you also agree that in some cases it will not be possible to appoint an alternative ATOL holder, in which case you will be entitled to make a claim under the ATOL scheme (or your credit card issuer where applicable). If we, or the suppliers identified on your ATOL certificate, are unable to provide the services listed (or a suitable alternative, through an alternative ATOL holder or otherwise) for reasons of insolvency, the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust may make a payment to (or confer a benefit on) you under the ATOL scheme. You agree that in return for such a payment or benefit you assign absolutely to those Trustees any claims which you have or may have arising out of or relating to the non-provision of the services, including any claim against us, the travel agent (or your credit card issuer where applicable). You also agree that any such claims may be re-assigned to another body, if that other body has paid sums you have claimed under the ATOL scheme.
