3 The Tryout Judging System: Dancers will be judged by individuals who are very knowledgeable in the area of dance and are not affiliated to Stuart Cramer on the following skills: Dance Routine Pom Routine Grand jete (split leap) One additional bonus jump, one additional turning combination, and one tumbling pass of the dancer's choice. This is optional, but can receive extra points Mandatory Skills Double pirouette Toe Touch Grand battements (kicks) to front and side Dancers will be selected to represent Stuart Cramer High School during the season based on execution of the mandatory skills and tryout score. Coaches reserve the right to make a cut when a point discrepancy occurs. Academics: All athletes must maintain their academic eligibility at all times. All athletes must maintain a C or better in all classes each semester. Please consider your child's ability to keep up with homework, school projects, field trips, etc., while maintaining the demanding time schedule associated with the dance team. Dance Rules and Regulations: All candidates making the team and their parent(s) will be required to sign the Dance Team Contract. Dancers will follow a demerit system of discipline throughout the year. Accumulation of 15 demerits will result in dismissal from the team. Absences or late arrival to practices and games for any reason will result in demerits. Projected Expenses: Financial demands should be considered before trying out for dance team. The following is an estimate of costs for items needed by each dancer. It will cost approximately $355-$500. I will review these costs in a parent meeting once the team is final. Please consider these costs before signing the parent permission form. Uniform costs will need to be paid within the weeks following auditions in order for uniforms to arrive on time. If all costs have not been paid by their due date, this may result in suspension from games and/or removal from the team. I do plan to have a fundraiser to help offset the cost of the uniform but it is unknown what the change in cost will be. If cost is a major concern for you please let me know immediately once final cuts have been made. Closing: Again, thank you for your interest in the SCHS Dance Team. I hope the information provided in this packet has helped you better understand the operation of the tryout procedures as well as the commitment required to participate in the SCHS Dance Team Program. If you should have any questions, please contact me via ; rlhill@gaston.k12.nc.us Thank you, Becca Hill
