Adding Sub Sites Sub Sites are the same as Sub Groups in the old Learning Platform; they are new pages which help separate your site up into the relevant areas needed for your school. A Sub Site enables the administrator of the platform to add a structure and enables them to add various Sub Sites for specific groups within school, such as an English department or a class sub site. How to add sub sites 1. Hover your mouse over the Admin link on the toolbar and a drop down menu will appear beneath. 2. Click Site Admin Admin - Site Admin 3. Select Site Map & Structure Site Map & Structure 4. You will see your platforms site map on the following page and it is here that you will be able to add, edit or delete Sub Sites.

5. To add a Sub Site to the Learning Platform click on the icon next to the Site that you would like the Sub Site to sit beneath. Add Icon 6. A wizard will appears to guide you through the creation of your site. Add the relevant information to the fields and click Finish. Edit the fields and 7. Once the site is created the wizard will give you the option of viewing the new site or close the wizard and returning to the site map.

If you want to make more pages click close and return, if you want to begin editing the site click on the option which allows you to view the page. Editing a Site 1. To edit a Site name or description click the edit this site icon for the Site or Sub-site you wish to edit. 2. Change the name of the Site name and click finish button at the bottom of the page. Deleting a Site 1. To delete a Site click the Delete icon Delete Icon 2. A message will appear making the administrator aware that this will permanently delete the sub site. An audit trail will record the details of the user that has deleted the site, when this took place and what was has been deleted.

3. Select ok to confirm or cancel if you change your mind. Navigating to a Site If you would like to view a page on the Sub-Site list, simply click on the relevant title and you will be given the option to view the site. Page Properties Page Security Each page in the Learning Platform has its own security settings. This means that you can assign different levels of security to each page; this means some pages may be public whereas others may only be available to certain people, classes or an individual group of people. How to assign the sub site or page properties 1. Navigate to the page you want to set the security for and hover over the Admin Section on the top toolbar and select Page Properties Admin Page Properties 2. The following page will appear.

Use the tabs at the top for additional options. Here the user can work through 5 tabs, which are: Basic Title (short name) Learning Objective Context (to explain what the purpose of the Life Page resource is for) Display Resource from/to (date & time that it will be visible). Left blank by default. Page Background. Options allow editors to upload or delete a background image for the page. This may be auto-resized to fit the page Security This is where you decide who can see & do things with your Life Page. Either search for individuals or drag profile sets in the security area. The options are: View (read only) Take Part (add learning cells but not edit or delete) Edit (add, edit, delete, share) Custom (any combination of granular actions available) Versions This shows you when changes have been made and who has made them. Handy for assessment when students use Life Pages. Tagging This enables you to add tags to the Life Page. For example English and Year 4 Persuasion and Homework so that other Year 4 teachers looking for homework ideas about Persuasive Writing can find your page and connect with you. LifeTag This provides you with a barcode which, when scanned, links users directly to your Life Page. It s more mobile-friendly than remembering a URL (web address).

SecurityTab The security tab is especially useful as you can not only control who can view the resource but also who can edit or take part. The security screen has a drag and drop feature, simply drag the user groups you desire from the first column into the second (middle) column: You can also search for individual users, rather than selecting groups of users. If you select a group from the middle column you will be able to give them security rights: Here Drama have been selected (highlighted in orange), to then set the security for this group all we need to do is click and select an appropriate security option from the menu on the right.
