1 General Information to Participants We are very happy to welcome you to Trondheim and the Frozen Pasts Symposium. The following is some general information to help you on arrival in Trondheim. Travel Info From the airport (Værnes), the easiest way to get to the city centre is to take the airport bus. The bus leaves every 15mins or so and stops at all the major hotels downtown. The bus costs Kr. 90 one way. You can also buy a return ticket for Kr150. Conference Venue The main conference venue is the Quality Hotel Augustin, Kongensgate 26, 7011 Trondheim. Reception: (See map) Frozen Pasts Registration Check in for the symposium takes place in the foyer of the Quality Hotel Augustin between 7-9pm on Monday 4th October or between 7-8 am on Tuesday 5th October. We ask that you register on Monday evening if at all possible. The weather is nice at the moment and the forecast is looking promising. However, it is very cold in the mountains at this time of year. For example the maximum temperatures for Oppdal next week are projected to be +2. Here is a link to the weather forecast for the area (scroll down for a graphic forecast).

2 It is vital that you bring warm, wind-proof and water-proof clothing and footwear for the excursions. This includes hats, gloves and scarves. You should also bring several layers of clothing in case it is windy. On excursion 1 we will be viewing both the landscape and the snow patches from a distance. My advice is that you bring binoculars for the excursion. This will allow you to view various interesting features and formations at a distance.
