12 106 Technology in Fire Training Sunday November 22 This class is an appetizer for the full course meal you can attend at the National Fire Academy (pun intended). Fire service and EMS students have changed, and we have new methods to engage them in learning. If you struggle during classroom presentations, or experience dull drills, why? More importantly, as an instructor, what are you going to do about it? We will model several examples of engaging students in the classroom and you will research and lead the discussion on drill realism. Bring your smart phone, tablets, or laptops and we ll see what your research turns up! Russell E. Todd

13 TWO DAY CLASS 201 Instructing Fire Service Hydraulics for Today s Firefighters Saturday and Sunday November Will I have to do math in this class? Yes, but it will be on the training ground. This course will test the calculations. This will help you show your students the importance of testing the results obtained from hydraulic calculations. The objective of the class is to demonstrate reasons to encourage your students to go back to their departments and flow test hose, nozzles, and appliances. We will discuss and demonstrate reasons why friction loss, nozzle pressure, and other items affect flow rates. Steve Barton This class will involve hands-on pumping and hose exercises.
