3 SO SOCIETY, TECHNOLOGY AND SELF COURSE DESCRIPTION THIS COURSE ANALYZES THE RELATIONS BETWEEN SOCIETY, TECHNOLOGY AND SELF FROM A SOCIOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE. IN PARTICULAR, EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON TECHNOLOGY AS A MAJOR FORM OF SOCIAL INTEGRATION, AS WELL AS A DETERMINANT OF CHARACTER AND PERSONALITY STRUCTURES. COURSE INTENDED OUTCOMES: (1) DEMONSTRATE AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE SOCIAL CONDITIONS AFFECTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF SELVES (2) DEMONSTRATE AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY AND TECHNOLOGICAL CHANGE ON SOCIETIES (3) DEMONSTRATE AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE ETHICAL QUESTIONS RAISED BY MODERN TECHNOLOGIES (4) DEMONSTRATE AN UNDERSTANDING OF HOW AND WHY SOCIETIES REGULATE TECHNOLOGIES AND TECHNOLOGISTS (5) DEMONSTRATE AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY ON SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES AS WELL AS ON SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC INEQUALITIES (6) DEMONSTRATE AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE SOCIAL ORGANIZATION OF THE TECHNOLOGISTS WORK SETTINGS GENERAL EDUCATION LEARNING OUTCOMES: 1.
