4 Permisson based Teachers are in full control of their lesson observations. They determine who can access their observations and how they are able to contribute and comment. Powerful observations Turn any room into a lesson observatory. IRIS Connect offers powerful observational tools and easy to use technologies to capture, view and share lessons with colleagues within and between schools. Time-linked notes Create video, audio or text commentary linked to the timeline of the video to increase the immediacy of feedback. When reviewing the observation you can make additional notes and jump to the important moments by clicking on comments. Observation tools Create customised observation forms and instruments to provide deeper insight in your observations. Use these tools live or when reviewing an observation.
5 Sharing Share observations with individual IRIS Connect users for review or post them to a group library as an example of best practice. Secure Users have their own password protected account. You are in complete control of your data and it is protected by state of the art security and encryption. I ve recorded hours of my own teaching, initially just reflecting on them myself and then approaching colleagues that had the appropriate strengths to get the most helpful feedback. 6 A Flexible System At the heart of IRIS Connect is an online learning community focused around flexible video based learning tools. Users can upload video to a secure personal library and use a range of observational analysis tools designed to meet individual and whole school needs. Schools have found many innovative ways of using IRIS Connect beyond professional development and mentoring & coaching. It has been used as a powerful tool for: Disseminating good practice from centres of excellence Student Voice Student presentation skills Engaging with parents Sharing staff presentations Recording and sharing CPD sessions IRIS Connect has been very useful for student presentation skills. The children wanted to IRIS their presentations; after the initial silliness the children identified what worked well and identified areas they needed to improve on the next time.
