Market Location: Pavilion at Stony Plain Heritage Park, Ave, Stony Plain, AB. On certain days the Pavilion at Heritage Park has already been booked for special events. Our first choice for those days will be to share the facility with the other group, either inside or outside of the Pavilion. Should this not be an option we will determine which other location to move our Market to, preferably Stony Plain Rotary Park ( Ave). Exact dates are to be announced and subject to change. 2 Stony Plain Heritage Farmers Market and Small Business Marketplace Vendor Fees 2012 Market Members (Vendors who plan to attend our Market regularly.) Initial membership fee for entire season: $30 8 stall with 1 table: $20 Each additional 8 stall with 1 table: $10 Membership also includes free coffee refills as well as lunch discounts at the Market s concession. Non- members of the Market (Vendors who plan to attend our Market occasionally.) 8 stall with 1 table: $22 Each additional 8 stall with 1 table: $11 Introductory fee for vendors who have never attended our Market before on their first day of vending only: 8 stall with 1 table: $15 Each additional 8 stall with 1 table: $ 7.50 All vendors may use our facility s 6 tables in their stalls or may bring their own tables up to 8 in length. The use of trailers in the building is at the Manager s discretion. Fees will vary depending on the length of the trailer as well as how it is set up (e.g. with or without tables in front to set out products; products sold out of trailer.)
3 Small Business Marketplace Rules and Regulations 2012 Mission The purpose of the Small Business Marketplace is to provide local vendors with community based direct Market access to promote their small home based business and to provide the public with a commercial, educational, cultural and social experience by providing a Market that celebrates our heritage, encourages tourism and provides economic opportunity. General The Small Business Marketplace shall operate alongside the Heritage Farmers Market every Saturday from 9 am until 1 pm during the months of April through December (tentatively) at the Pavilion at Heritage Park, Ave in Stony Plain, AB or, should this facility be booked for special events by other groups, alternatively at Rotary Park, Ave, Stony Plain, AB. It is sponsored, organized and operated by the Heritage Agricultural Society. Only commercial products are permitted at the Market. Vendors who sell home grown, home produced or hand made products will have to join the Heritage Farmers Market. Vendors are only permitted to sell their products at the Market after completing an application form and will have to be approved by the Market Manager. Any ownership change of business requires a new vendor application; vendors must not sublet their stalls to unapproved vendors. The exact brand name product (e.g. Tupperware, Epicure) can only be sold by one vendor at any given Market day; however, vendors may share their spot on a weekly basis. Spots will be given out on first come first serve basis. No vendor shall engage in smoking at the Market. No vendor shall consume alcoholic beverages and/or illegal substances or conduct business under the influence of these substances on the premises of the Market. All vendors are required to obtain any licenses and permits pursuant to the Rules and Regulations set out by Alberta Health Services and Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development as well as the Town of Stony Plain and will ensure that a copy of all such licenses and permits are available to be reviewed by the Manager on all Market days. The only acceptable methods of payment of vendor fees are cash or cheque. Cheques have to be made payable to Heritage Agricultural Society.
4 Signage All vendors must have appropriate and professional looking signage which has to be approved by the Market Manager prior to their use at the Market. All signs to be used by the vendor at the Market must clearly display the name of the vendor. We encourage vendors to display a telephone number at which they can be reached on all signage. The Manager at his or her discretion may require that any sign in the Market be removed or covered. Stalls and Tables Space at the Market is to be rented as stall space. A standard stall measures 8 in length. Only one table may be placed inside a stall. Tables needed for sales and /or display shall be provided by the Market; however, vendors are permitted to use their own tables if they wish, not exceeding 8. The Market s tables are 6 long; vendors are permitted to place racks, small side tables, etc. beside their tables to make full use of their 8 stall space. The location of a vendors stall shall be determined in agreement between the vendor and Market Manager. Requests for stall location changes are at the Manager s discretion. If, in the opinion of the Manager, the vendor s stall interferes with the use of another vendor s stall, then the Manager may take any decision he or she deems appropriate to rectify the situation. All table surfaces must be finished or covered. All stalls must be maintained in a neat and tidy manner. Whether a stall is being maintained in a neat and tidy manner is in the sole discretion of the Manager. The vendor must clean the stall area at the closing of each Market day. All garbage must be removed and placed in proper receptacles or hauled away. It is the vendor s responsibility to set up and take down their tables after each Market, unless instructed otherwise by the Market Manager. Tables must be returned to designated storage area. Use of Vehicles No motor vehicle may remain in operation in the Market unless the motor vehicle is being driven out of the Market or into the Market. All vendors when loading or unloading both in and outside the building should do so in haste and in consideration of other vendors. Vendors who are selling their products out of trailers are permitted to do so at the Managers discretion provided that it is not possible to unload those products efficiently (e.g. if stored in freezers). Additional vendor fees may apply. The Manager may at any time exercise his or her discretion regarding motor vehicles attempting to gain access into the Market which may cause safety concerns or prevent other vendors from loading and unloading motor vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
5 Vendor Presence Vendors must be present at the Market throughout its hours of operation, unless the vendor has sold out of all products. Vendors must be present to set up their stalls at least one half hour prior to the Market opening to the general public. Set up must be completed by 9 am. Vendors are required to give notice by Friday evening prior to the Market should they not be able to attend the Market. Release, Indemnity, Insurance The vendor acknowledges and agrees that the Manager, the Small Business Marketplace, the Heritage Farmers Market, its employees and agents will not be held responsible for any damage to the vendor s equipment, produce, goods, property, or vehicles. In the event that the vendor damages or causes to be damaged any property belonging to the Market or its Facility, the Market may repair the damage and the vendor shall be responsible for all costs associated with the repair. The vendor agrees that he or she is responsible for the placement, maintenance and cost of appropriate insurance covering all risk related to the vendor s participation in the Market.
