1 Scientific goal The present international workshop, organized by the Aula Maria Zambrano of Transatlantic Studies under the title Spain and America: crossed paths. An interdisciplinary perspective, is the first in a series of international gatherings which will discuss Euro-American relations from different perspectives and approaches. The study of mutual relations in the Atlantic axis can help us understand, in a geostrategic sense, the context in which cultural, social and political policies (among others) can be implemented. These policies are a subject of study and analysis of the Aula Maria Zambrano of Transatlantic Studies. The education of experts in this area is one of the main objectives of this academic forum. This workshop aims at highlighting the strengths and weaknesses, the existence and absence of the phenomena which interact within the transatlantic context. Experts from the US, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Germany and Spain will make their specific diagnosis of the situation from the perspective of Social Sciences and Humanities, which constitutes the main topic of the current workshop: politics, scientific culture, economy, languages, literature, translation, iberian studies, communication, etc., will be the focus of attention during the two days of the workshop. During the workshop, Spain and the United States will become the focus of the debate, due to the majoritary presence of investigators from these countries, as well as the singularity that characterizes the present gathering, which also intends to strengthen the academic and scientific relations with the University of South Florida, within which the first aula was born, as a part of an ongoing academic project between this university and the University of Malaga. Crossed paths coming from Europe, South America and the Caribbean will contribute to enrich this bilateral vision, thus widening the interrelations perspective which converge in the Atlantic axis. THE ATLANTIC OCEAN AS A COMMON TERRITORY MEETING POINTS North Atlantic Ocean POINTS OF DIVERGENCE ATLANTIC AXIS South Atlantic Ocean
2 Description This international workshop is organized by the Aula Maria Zambrano of Transatlantic Studies and comes under the internationalization strategy of the International Campus of Excellence (CEI) Andalucía TECH. The main objective of the meeting is the promotion of an area for discussion, research and knowledge transfer at international level about those questions of greatest interest for the transatlantic countries. These appointments also help building and strengthening the collaboration network that the Aula Maria Zambrano of Transatlantic Studies wants to settle among universities, researchers, and experts from one side to the other of the Atlantic Ocean.
