DATES: 6th 24th July 2015 PRE-REQUISITES: None NUMBER OF CREDITS 6 ECTS COURSE DESCRIPTION A practical course based on classes and guided tours that provides teachers with the necessary tools to teach Spanish through art, cinema, history, literature and Spanish music. COURSE AIMS Participants will: Get familiar with the linguistic, historical, literary and artistic Spanish environment. Identify the most outstanding events of the Spanish history. Trace the historical frame of the principal Spanish artistic trends. Find out the characteristics of the principal Spanish artistic trends and their most important representatives. Acquire knowledge of the actual Spanish literature. Acquire new educational tools for the classroom teaching. Granting of Diplomas SYSTEM OF EVALUATION: GRADING CRITERIA AND ACTIVITIES The evaluation will take into consideration the assistance to classes, confirmed daily by a signing list, and the presentation of a short essay on the impressions created during the course or any of the contents developed. The factors to be taken into consideration for the evaluation are the following: Assistance to classes: 60% Final essay: 40% The final essay must be submitted during the last week of the course, between Monday 20 st and Friday 24 th of July. It is an essential requirement for obtaining the Diploma. DUE DATES OF MAJOR ASSIGNMENTS, PROJECTS AND EXAMINATIONS The final tasks must be submitted during the last week of the course. The completion and submission of such tasks are a requirement to receive the Diploma. She worked in national and international projects and published several books and articles in magazines and national and international books. Moreover, she is an honorary member of the Association Alexander von Humboldt of Spain and founding member of the Scientific Association of Economy and Management Company (ACED), among others. OTHER LECTURERS CURRICULA ANA BLANCO CANALES Professor in the Department of Philology at the University of Alcalá. She has given Teacher Training Courses at different institutions and universities abroad (Brazil, Greece, Switzerland, Poland, Santo Domingo) and in other Spanish (Universidad de Las Palmas, teacher training centers, college graduates and PhDs). His research interests are: 1) Sociolinguistics, 2) Spanish as a foreign language, 3) Language for specific purposes. He has published articles in various journals, lectured in several conferences and communications and participated in various research projects. She has participated as coordinator and editor on numerous materials for teaching Spanish, including dreams and Fly (Editorial Anaya) Professional Spanish Collection: Business, Tourism, Health Sciences and Spanish Law; collection Encuentros. Spanish for immigrants (both collections released by the SPUAH). CECILIA DE SANTISTEBAN GUTIÉRREZ As well as Bachelor's degrees in humanities and in tourism, Cecilia holds Master's degrees in secondary and vocational education and in the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language. In addition to having worked in several Spanish language schools for foreigners in Madrid and in the Franklin Institute for North American Studies at the University of Alcalá de Henares, she has also given teacher training courses for Spanish language and Hispanic studies teachers in the Cervantes Institute and in Alcalingua- University of Alcalá. Well experienced in the creation of educational materials for both online and offline language courses, her interests include different ways and means of teaching Spanish to nonnative speakers and the development of study and language tourism. GABINO BOQUETE MARTÍN Dr. Gabino Boquete Martín holds a B.A. in Arts at School of Drama, B.A. in English Philology at the University of Alcalá, Master in Spanish as a Foreign Language and Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics at the University of Alcalá. He has been a teacher of Spanish as Foreign Language at Alcalingua University of Alcalá, from 2003 to 2005, and currently is the responsible for International Relations in this centre. He has imparted several courses of different editions of the Master in Spanish as a Second Language in Alcalingua as well as in the Master in Teaching Spanish as First and Second Language in the APEC University (Santo Domingo). He is regularly involved in teacher training courses organized by Instituto Cervantes. His research interests include the teaching of Phonetics in Spanish as Foreign Language classes, the recreational component in the classroom, the application of theatrical techniques, motivation and group dynamics. MARTA F. NOGUEROLES LÓPEZ Marta F. Nogueroles López received her PhD in Spanish Language and Literature and her MA in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language at the University of Alcalá as well as her BA in English Studies at the University of Alicante. She taught at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and at The University of Hong Kong. She also worked as a developer of language learning materials for the online community for learning languages busuu.com, and as a socio-cultural and sports coordinator at CIEE (Council on International Exchange Education). Currently she serves as academic coordinator at Alcalingua-
6 University of Alcalá. Her academic interests and research areas are language learning strategies, listening comprehension in L2 and auditory phonetics and speech perception. REBECA GARCÍA CIRUELOS Rebeca Garcia holds a B.A in Geography and History and a Master s Degree in Spanish and its Culture: Professional and Management Developments at the University of Alcalá. She spent her junior year abroad at the University of Bologna with a Socrates-ECTS scholarship, focusing her studies on Art History. She has worked for the Pedagogy Department of the Provincial Museum of Guadalajara (Spain). She has been a participant and conference lecturer in many courses on methodology and the teaching of Spanish language and culture. Alongside teaching Art History and Spanish History at Alcalingua- University of Alcalá, she is currently completing her doctoral Thesis paper entitled Diplomacia y mecenazgo. España Génova, (Diplomacy and Patronage: Spain-Genoa, ). DANIEL MIGUEL FUENTES Daniel Miguel Fuentes received his BA in Spanish Studies and his MA in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language at the University of Alcala. He has taught Spanish language and culture in México, England, Hong Kong and Spain and he has lectured at universities in Greece, Dominican Republic and Brazil. Additionally, he is an official examiner for the DELE diploma examinations (Spanish as a Foreign Language Certificate Examination issued by the Cervantes Institute). Currently he serves as coordinator in the development of language teaching materials at Alcalingua- University of Alcala. He has co-published Los Navegantes y Eureka, an Internet project aimed to teach Spanish as L2 to primary and secondary students, and Español del turismo: Manual de español profesional, a textbook intended to teach Spanish for tourism.
