1 ALASKA HOUSING FINANCE CORPORATION Infrastructure Administrator I-IV (DOE) (Two Positions) Anchorage/Job #44-15 ===================================================================== Definition Under supervision and direction of the Infrastructure & Development Officer, the Infrastructure Administrator I-IV designs, develops, troubleshoots & deploys the corporation s enterprise computing infrastructure which is comprised of a myriad of server, network & storage systems as well as specialty appliances. This is a non-exempt, technical position with no supervisory or management responsibilities. Examples of Duties 1. Deploy, secure and maintain AHFC routing and switching fabrics, using industry best practices, to a wide variety of geographically dispersed sites. 2. Deploy, secure and maintain AHFC firewall / IDP & VPN fabrics using industry best practices. 3. Deploy, secure and maintain AHFC storage systems using industry best practices. 4. Deploy, secure and maintain AHFC many different server systems using industry best practices. 5. Deploy, secure and maintain the different applications required to manage the routing, switching, storage and server systems. 6. Implements all technology using the paradigms of redundancy, security & usability as guiding principles. 7. Perform internal and external pen testing, on a regular basis, to verify the security stances of AHFC digital assets. 8. Develop & maintain a consistent, high quality, customer focused approach when interacting with AHFC's business partners, clients & customers; other AHFC departments. 9. Develop working knowledge of AHFC business practices & processes as well as understanding its goals as a corporation. 10. Performs workflow analysis, process mapping, documentation, and workflow implementation. 11. Other duties as required.

2 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Knowledge of: Skills: 1. Routing and switching technologies and trends, with platforms such as Cisco, Force10 & Juniper. 2. Firewall / IDP & VPN technologies and trends, with platforms such as Palo Alto, Cisco ASA & Juniper. 3. Storage technologies and trends, with platforms such as Netapp & EMC. 4. Server virtualization technologies and trends, with platforms such as VMware, XEN & KVM. 5. Wireless technologies and trends, with platforms such as Aruba & Cisco. 6. Different flavors of modern Linux & Windows based server operating systems. 7. Microsoft AD, Exchange and IIS. 8. Scripting technologies such as Powershell, Perl, Python, Bash, etc. 9. ITIL & ITSM principles and best practices. 1. Administration of datacenter routing and switching fabrics as well as remote site network connectivity using technologies such as VLAN, LACP, QoS, DSCP, AAA, RADIUS, TACACS, OSPF, PBR, DAI, ACL, DHCP, DCB, etc. 2. Administration of datacenter firewall / IDP fabrics using technologies such as NAT, PAT, ACL, SSL decryption, IKE, IPSec, etc. 3. Administration of datacenter virtualization environment using technologies such as hypervisors, guest virtual servers, virtual switches, virtual routers, snapshots, clustering, etc. 4. Administration of datacenter storage environment using technologies such as NFS, iscsi, CIFS, snapshots, mirrors, clones, high-availability, clustering, etc. 5. Administration of a Microsoft Active Directory environment running Exchange as well as many other supporting systems.

3 6. Administration of Microsoft IIS servers. 7. Administration of Linux based servers. 8. Administration of anti-virus, patching, monitoring and other infrastructure related applications. 9. Accomplishing automation, where possible, via scripting. 10. Microsoft Office suite applications including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and Visio. Abilities: 1. Understand, identify, and plan for the business process impact of planned or existing system changes while ensuring that new technical requirements are properly integrated with business processes. 2. Thrive in an environment where peer review is used to determine viability of a solution or process. 3. Perform algorithm analysis against a business process or auditing requirement in search of rational efficiencies. 4. Maintain documentation for a solution or process that is in sync with the needs of management, team members & end users. 5. Effectively & consistently use an issue tracking system while organizing and prioritizing a constantly changing workload. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and continual interruption. Must be able to function with a high degree of independence within levels of delegated authority. 6. Use independent judgment in the research and recommendation of application design decisions before making appropriate recommendations to management, team members and end users. 7. Establish and maintain a good working relationship with AHFC personnel, contractors, customers, consultants, suppliers and vendors. Interpersonal skills will be utilized on a daily basis through interaction with a diverse cross-section of people and organizations. 8. Read & understand written material, interpret & apply rules. Must be able to write clearly and prepare documents as required by management, team members & end users. 9. Continually learn, adapt, and apply new technology skills to stay current with emerging or existing IT archetypes. 10. Work as needed. Long hours and/or weekend work may be required as necessary to support department goals and objectives. Must be able to travel as needed.

4 Minimum Educational Qualifications and Previous Employment Experience 1. High school diploma required. 2. Degree requirements: Infrastructure Administrator I / II: Associate s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or closely related field. Infrastructure Administrator III / IV: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or closely related field. Degree must be from an institution accredited by one of the six regional accreditation boards and or the AACSB: MSA Middle States Association NASC Northwest Association of Schools & Colleges NCA North Central Association of Colleges & Schools NEASC New England Association of Schools & Colleges SACS Southern Association of Colleges & Schools WASC Western Association of Schools & Colleges AACSB- Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business Substitutions: a. Qualifying work experience may be substituted for required educational requirements on a year for year basis at the discretion of the hiring authority. b. International degrees can be evaluated at the discretion of the hiring authority. 3. Experience: a. The Infrastructure Administrator I position requires at least one (1) year fulltime description within the last two (2) years. b. The Infrastructure Administrator II position requires at least two (2) years fulltime description within the last four (4) years. c. The Infrastructure Administrator III position requires at least four (4) years full-time description within the last six (6) years. d. The Infrastructure Administrator IV position requires at least six (6) years fulltime description within the last eight (8) years.

5 4. Completion of formal continuing education and or professional technical certifications relevant to the KSAs for this job description within the last four (4) years. 5. Provide valid Alaska driver's license and show proof of driving record in good standing from DMV when requested. This is a level (DOE) position with a monthly salary of $4, $6, (DOE).
